The Islamic "golden age" occurred as a result of subsuming Persia and by extension greek/hellenic culture and any advances made ultimately deemed fundamentally incompatible with Islam itself, literally. Material disruption? That'd be the Mongols. Europe has nothing to do with Islam's developmental failures.
