Rather than just "male friends" it helps if there are non-redshirt/non-mob/non-cartoonish-villain male characters in general. It's not strictly necessary, but for example once you remember that for example EiS has no relevant male characters other than Cid, his 2 mob friends and some red-shirt villains, you can't unthink that fact anymore.

This is retarded and a typical GENTLEMEN argument because it presumes that every isekai is a pure powerlevel-dick-measuring-contest and that nothing else other than MUH power-levels is every remotely relevant to isekai authors and audience alike. It's completely missing the point about why isekai became popular in the first place. OP MCs usually means that they can throw their weight around and that the story is largely about the change that they bring to the Otherworld. I mean... seriously NAME ONE isekai that people got into purely because of some sort of "will the MC win or lose a battle?" kind of excitement. Or let me ask you: Did you start reading isekai for that reason? I doubt it. Why would there be "stakes" in something that never existed in the first place? You let yourself be gaslit by GENTLEMEN, anon. Don't listen to them.

Too broad. Academy arc in itself isn't too big an issue. The real issue is if an interesting premise that was just getting good is suddenly falling flat due to being replaced by MUH daily school life out of nowhere. They both are tensei rather than isekai, but compare Nia Liston with Miss Savage Fang. Nia Liston neatly includes the school life with other stuff into the story and doesn't go too deep into it so it's fine. But Miss Savage Fang completely turned into a "daily school life" thing the moment the main cast started attending the academy so it turned into shit. Replace it with "No extensive daily school student life". It tends to be fine when the MC is a teacher instead in most cases.
