Who’s going?
Any cosplays planned?
Photoshoots or meetups?
Going to any panels or spending all weekend in the waterpark? The title says it all, cosplayers that did awesome cosplay but their career were cut short, as they suddenly disappeared without any notice. Do you guys ever like to go through YouTube and watch con and cosplay fandom videos from before the 2010's?
It's a hobby of mine. It makes me sad.
https://youtu.be/vc2Zj1C_uKY We're approximately two months out now. Anime Weekend Atlanta is from December 12th, 2024 to December 15th, 2024. The venue has moved from the Cobb Galleria to the Georgia World Congress Center. Who all is attending? Any cool panels being hosted? What will you be cosplaying as? >Dec.6th - 8th
>Columbus, OH (Greater Columbus Convention Center)
>Guests: Hayden Christensen, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Logic, Roger Craig Smith, Kari Wahlgren, a lot of Hazbin Hotel VAs, etc.
Made a thread for this since it's about 2 weeks away.
>Are you going?
>Cosplay plans?
>Did you find a good hotel?
>Are you excited? Any expectations?
>Any panel plans? The signups have finally opened, for this year's /cgl/ Secret Santa event!

what's everyone's thoughts on cosplay photography in 2024/the foreseeable future? it seems like the amount of bullshit we have to put up with as photographers in the cosplay scene only increases day by day and the cons outweigh the pros For the Canadian gulls, now that Anime North and Otakuthon are over, what conventions is everyone still looking forward to for the rest of the year? Will anyone top the truck rave at Anime North? I need a reason not to kill myself. You need to learn how to vibe and talk to people at conventions. If you're underage that's one thing. If you're old enough you should budget for a hotel room so you can party and party with strangers and make new friends. The best part about conventions is meeting people and subsequently running into them at other cons in other years and it's all so fucking beautiful. It's the only time you don't have to suppress your powerlevel because guess what? They know all the dumb memes you do and have a lot of overlap in interests and other things you enjoy. You can ask someone why they're green and actually learn something about Startrek because they fucking love star trek so much they painted themselves green! SO WHEN I ASK THEM THEY ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO GUSH ABOUT THE SHIT THEY LOVE! I FUCKING LOVE NERD CONVENTION SHIT HOLY FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Films/tv shows that are based on cosplay/con culture or at least reference it in some way.
I felt that 2Kawaii4Comfort was (for better or worse) the most accurate description of going to a small con and having a bad time at it. It's a shame it ended on a cliffhanger. prev thread hit bump limit So hello /CGL/, I've been planning to make a Techpriest cosplay for a convention in February. While I've pretty much figured out on how to make the Axe, and got a friend to help me out with robe sewing, I cannot seem to understand how to make the backpack.
I've collected various reference images, but it just isn't clicking. I even tried tracking down any free Spacemarine backpack which is human sized scale (I'm 5'9") and use it as a base, but I haven't really tracked down a proper one.
Anyone out here, if you can please maybe give some suggestions on how to make it, it will really help me out. My plan is to put a mechandrite arm at one side of the backpack and a servo skull at the other side, acting as a light. I'm a near-complete beginner to con culture and the "scene" due to zero exposure to it until recently and I have too many questions swimming around in my head that I need to ask. I've only been to a couple of small ones in my mostly-desolate area and I want to step up to traveling to bigger ones but I'm overwhelmed. Please bear with me.
>Do a majority of congoers cosplay? I know it's common, but is it seen as a faux pas to not cosplay?
>Likewise, is it seen as a faux pas to wear the same cosplay more than once in a multi-day event, or to not wear it some days?
>I've read a lot on this board about "after hours" events and parties that aren't scheduled by the con staff. Do you have to get invited to things like that, or how do people find out about them?
>Do cons that don't have a stated sub-demographic (ones that use terms like "fandom" or "pop culture" instead of specifically "fantasy" or "otaku" or something) tend to accept all demographics? Would you be looked at weird for going to something more "western" like SDCC in an anime cosplay, or would you expect to see a lot of them?
>Why do some huge cons like Colossal and Dragon seem to place such significance on getting a hotel room onsite as opposed to just being nearby? Surely not just traffic, right?
>What's a "gull"?
>How do you not get sick every time you go to one?
>How do you keep track of scheduling for multiple cons across multiple years? Do you get notified about them? When is "con season"?
>If you're partying, how do you deal with inevitable hangovers or crashes?
And some more personal questions
>If you cosplay, what's normally your budget? Both in terms of time and money.
>How do you make friends at a con if you're not going with a group?
>How many cons do you go to yearly or on a recurring basis? There are a fuckton I want to see but I'm not sure if my expectations are unreasonable.
Thank you for your time. Sweet lolita coords with cozy, warm layers, using soft or casual items like sweatshirts, sweaters, jerseys, slouchy socks, cardigans, relaxed cutsews, etc. My Postal 1 dude cosplay, tried to be as accurate as possible, what do yall think? I got my engineering workshop prof. to let me use the workshop's sheet metal for a "design project". Havent really showed him the 3d model yet but he already gave me a written permit slip.
I need to make the helmet, buy a fuck ton of bandages and idk what i should do for footwear.
Never worked with sheet metal before, i dont even know how to get the spherical shapes like in the prisoner helm, Hopefully i can do something presentable for the next comic con.
there arent any good photos online for a prisoner griffith cosplay so im kinda confused on what to wear for pants/footwear. Any other suggestions?(Ill post my helmet progress in december) What visual kei do you like? Well hello, Florida Seagulls. It's been a slower year here, but I know you're out there and you know I'm out there. Our local scene keeps on with one location change after the other doesn't it? Who else is coming? Is it normal for people to ask for pictures and immediately leave after?
Or is this another Switzerland specialty where everybody hates socializing?
OR is it because I'm male?
How do you even make friends at a con?
I went to a convention as Chainsaw Man last October and while over 20 people asked me for a pic, nobody actually stuck around or even made an attempt at small talk. I was hoping to meet people.
There's another convention coming up next month and I'm not sure if I wanna go get photographed and go back home all alone with no new contacts or friends again. Kumoricon happens on November 8th to November 10th 2024 in Portland, Oregon

Are cons safer now?
Anyone encountered any con creeps?
I (male) got my butt grabbed by another guy once, didn't bother me desu (not gay) Do you guys go to panels when you visit conventions?
>What do you like to see?
>What do you not like/find boring
>What was the best panel you've been to? What could have been better?
>What was the worst? What made it bad? Popular female cosplayers seems to of become more of dressing slutty for attention than putting together a well made costume for a hobby You are planning on attending a comic con, photoshoot event, or what have you, and you decide to cosplay as your favourite character or a character that you have been hyperfixated over for unhealthy amount of time. You put a cosplay together and the day comes.
WOMP WOMP literally no one has recognised who you are cosplaying at least to your knowledge. It sucks but you are also glad that at least a handful of strangers asked you what you are cosplaying as and you tell them. Another one of the pros is... fans won't bother you and let you take rest and eat whenever you want. It does nothing when you post it on instagram but you get the clicks and appreciation when you post it on the subreddit for your cosplay. It sucks but at the end of the day, I wouldn't want to have cosplayed as anyone else.
Have you done any cosplay that was too niche for its own good? >Fourteen people were arrested and 10 victims were rescued in a human sex trafficking sting at San Diego Comic-Con Convention.
>The San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force conducted a three-day operation ahead of the weekend bust, California Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a news release on Tuesday, adding that among those rescued was a 16-year-old girl.
>Law enforcement officers went undercover as sex buyers to identify and arrest traffickers, as well as find potential victims, according to the attorney general's officers.
>Undercover police also posted ads seeking sex as part of the operation. ive like never cosplayed b4 at all nd i LOVE stocking SO MUCH but i have no idea where to get the outfit and stuff… everywhere online is so expensive and/or just shitty material. would i be better off making it myself? im not sure how 2 go about it lol XD Is cosplaying a 2D anime guy cringe ? This thread is for ouji and aristocrat (aka "boystyle") discussion. "Boystyle" is shorthand for "boystyle lolita" and refers to the masculine counterparts of Japanese lolita and, often, aristocrat fashions. There is a lot of overlap between these styles, and different people use different terms to describe them. We usually just use "ouji" here.

Discussion: Black Butler is coming back. Are you ready to be mistaken for a Ciel cosplayer again? Take three to a thread from last year that went well, let's try it out again. What keeps you coming back to cons? Even /cgl/, as small as it is, shows there's a billion possible combinations to explain: "Why?" Some answers, but definitely not all, would be
>Cosplaying
solo, group, admiring, meetups, photography
>What the event itself offers
Guests, shops / artist alley, rave, game room
>The social element
Parties (unofficial), hookups, meet new folks, mutual friends flying in from different areas
>Hanging out
People watch, the weird experiences only cons can provide, that one time in the year "the gang gets back together"
And of course any reasons I forgot to include are always encouraged. The floor is yours, gulls. CCC #2 Repent Edition
What recently mischiefs have you done recently? Or plan on perpetuate on your next innocent victims.
Me: Ask someone if I can play Street Fighter II on the SNES classic. It was a close match manage to win, He was getting ready for a rematch but I say thank you and prepare to leave, He leaves first. Also after that pick up some free posters that some left of the consoles table and I leave.
Also repent for being lazy and missing 3 cons this year. >cosplaying not because you like the character, but because you want to get laid
based or cringe? I've only seen one thread on this in the past, but it's getting into the peak time of year soon so why not see if there's any interest.
>favorite designs/tailmakers (fin fun, mertailor, fin folk)
>fabric tails vs silicone
>the actual exercise component of swimming with a monofin
I know there are mers on here and I'm trying to actually take the plunge and get a tail this year. What are some cosplay stories that you'll remember for the rest of your life?
Wholesome: Cosplaying some My Little Penis characters with my then-gf when a little girl started freaking out over how great we looked. She got her dad to take loads of pictures with both of us.
Less wholesome: I saw a fur-suiter yelling at his wife.
Least wholesome: Walking to the convention center behind my friend's sister in her Sailor Saturn cosplay, on a windy day. She either didn't notice or didn't care that her bare ass was playing aggressive peekaboo with me. Only time I've ever wanted the walk from the hotel to be longer.
Sad: I was at Twitchcon when that lady broke her spine. >D Piddy (the Deadpool cosplayer you've probably seen around) cosplays as P Diddy
>makes a video of him raping a Justin Bieber cosplayer at Tsumicon
Is this acceptable? Should he be banned from the con? ramona closet cosplay lolzz >mfw realizing cosplay is only worth it if you're attractive Anyone remember Anime Expo '92?

Some lolitas are far left. Some lolitas are far right. Me? I'm far TING.
Post cgl feels. I will be going to a big local cosplay party, the theme is "Fantasy Forest".
I want to cosplay something original, but doable regarding making the costume and being able to wear it for prolonged times.
I just don't want to be like the 50th unicorn or forest elf turning up...
Anyone have any ideas? I was considering some kind of Forest Spirit with like mist coming out from under my cloak and shit but I can't be dragging around a smoke machine... Anyone else fumble the bag this bad? There has been a big rise of these types of events across the country for the past couple of years. 18+ conventions aren't new, but specifically 18+ ecchi events seem to be its own kind of thing. What is more, I see a ton more sex workers at these cons, and it kind of reminds me of a porn convention. However, for some reason they still have everyone wear pasties and no one wants to be nude like a porn convention. (perhaps that is the "ecchi" part coming into play but it feels contradictory to me for some reason).
Do you think these types of events are a blessing or curse for the con scene? Has anyone ever bought one of these types of masks on Etsy? Are they any good? look cool while it's getting chilly How much are orange-tip weapon requirements actually enforced at cons? Generally I will begin with Umi Sinonome. >Anything else we should know? basically what the title is; I’ve been cosplaying since before the pandemic and cons don’t feel as friendly as they used to /: I still get asked for pictures somewhat regularly… but what cosplays would make you want to approach someone not only for pics but also small talk. Pls don’t say Makima, Kobeni, Mitsuri, Marin etc etc Guys, how old is too old?
Like, I am an oldfag in his mid 40s. Used to be very involved in the con scene back in the 90s and early 00s. I am currently on a very nostalgic mood about those days of yore, and planning to visit a few of the big cons to see how's the fandom nowadays. Would I be, as you youngsters say, cringe? Worse, would other congoers immediately assume I am a creepy pedophile? I don't really want to ruin some kids con experience like that.
Two things, I would be attending alone because the few con buddies from back then that I still keep in contact, are too jaded and busy to give a shit. Also, I am considering if it is a good idea to go cosplaying as an old timer character. Just got hyped of the idea of doing a cosplay since my first con last year. Lost alot of weight and do alot of workout to have a better body (still need to workout for month...)
Wanted to do a berserk armored Guts and found princearmory who sold their guide for 250$ instead of 650$ it sounds scammy at first with fake sales... Turns out I discover recently that they were not a scam and the price as indeed rise to 650$
Anyone got good guides to send (or maybe PrinceArmory guide?) old thread reached img limit >>10818178 I'm too old to understand this subculture please enlighten me
like how do you feel when you larp as an anime character makes you feel like old misa cosplay!
i want to do this cosplay again, any tips on how to make it better? how come when people make armor or whatever they always make the under material pitch black? why not use the same color as the actual piece you're making? To counteract all the moids here and the overwhelming spamming of slutty girls, here's a thread dedicated to the cuties who cosplay.
Emphasis on the "cute" part. Bodybuilders cosplaying just to show off their abs are just as bad as the girls who only do it for onlyfans. Sharing a hotel room at a con:
Have you done it before? Where did you find people to split the room with? Were they strangers? What rules were usually in place for the convention weekend? Did any problems arise? Would you do it again? Does anyone know what happend to beethy?

I don't mean token master roshi boomer Once upon a time, I posted here looking to commission a Terriermon mascot suit—and found someone great!
Now, I’m back on the hunt, this time for a mascot suit of my Sonic OC, Sora Starlight. I've got the budget for a quality suit, but finding a reputable maker who can capture Sonic-style characters well has been tricky. Many of the suits I've seen tend to look a bit off.
Is there anyone here who could take on this project? The suit will need to be durable enough for heavy convention use, and my target is about a year from now. I never went to these as I wasn't old enough but I've heard that conventions used to be more fun. Actual nerds going there having a good time.

>no need to use wig or accurate cosplay. it's called ethnic wigs instead Why is there such a stigma against girls who cosplay for money? As someone who has never had a girlfriend, being able to send money to cute girls who cosplay as the characters that I love is one of the only things in my life that makes me feel like I have a purpose. From patreon to onlyfans, it's on of my biggest joys and motivations in my life. One day I hope I can give money to a cosplayer at a con in real life and not just through the internet. >Ask a cosplayer to take a picture of him/her.

don't let it ruin your day anon I'm doing face makeup that involves a black eye + bandages/wound closures. Where should I put the bandages and closures to look like I got real fucked up? Youmacon announces a new chairman 2 months before their venue-less convention is supposed to start.
Morgan is vaguely 'still involved' (meaning still owning and collecting profits). No word on his vice chair who co-founded Youmacon with him 20 years ago.
What do we make of this? Are we being scammed? Any good Latex / Vinil / Tight and shiny cosplays? Dank und spooky edition

Does anyone else here cosplay as their pet, or have tips on how to cosplay more like a cat without looking like a furry? i have kind of fallen in love with atelier boz's "karen cross" op but i'm 5'9 and worried it'll be too short (it's like 90cm total). i know many taobao sellers let you order custom sizes, and i'm wondering whether any of them stock things like this, or even replicas Makeup, Hair and Skin-care General: "Same picture as last time because there hasn't been a thread in literally 2 years now" Edition

I just went to Otakuthon yesterday and I saw tons of people, I went to panels, I had tons of nice conversations, interactions and pictures, but it hurts knowing I'll probably never see any of these people again. The only real long interaction I had was with a guy playing Go with me and some other people, but beyond that, it never moved outside of small talk and compliments.
I'm still happy that I probably talked to over a 100 strangers in one day, something most people who are lonely fail to do, but being alone in a crowd truly hurts. Discussion and analysis of CAP & SNK cosplayers.

Also Event & Year of pic. jesus christ i haven't been on /cgl/ since the news about Vic Mangina dropped & I was mostly an /x/phile when I was hanging out here (2008-10 i'm an oldfag) but wow, this dude is actively doxxing two women for speaking up about abuse and he's still getting booked? he's at an 18+ convention in Denver this weekend and has a bad habit of sneaking in underage fans to his 18+ panels. I genuinely don't hang out here enough anymore to post much more that won't get me clowned on mercilessly but I wanted to bring it up. I know this was where the whisper network stuff has started for other.
re4 remake came out and everyone got confirmation that he leaked this image to get teenage fan pussy but then everyone forgot about it
https://dakucon.org/ is where he's gonna be later this month, the convention is actively blocking people who are bringing up that having a man that violates consent and feeds alcohol to girls under 21. This has also happened with Momocon and a few other small time cons that hires the likes of Vic and Q Flynn. He currently has iPeachySweet cosplay defending him (and getting him booked at 18+ conventions)
i just wanted the gulls to know and be safe. Have you ever thought about getting plastic surgery for cosplay?

Anyone have good examples of handmade OPs & JSKs?
I see a lot of potentially good designs ruined by shitty prints, giant ugly ruffles, and terrible color schemes.
Don't even get me started on Etsy lolita.
What ruins it for you? What should people quit doing with handmade stuff? Post photos & concrit all of it. 5 months of the old thread and not much has happened.
Summer cons have been and gone and once again everything is fundamentally different. I don’t think we’ll
Go back to pre lockdown glory.
Ho hum.
Theres a few more bits and pieces before con season is over but I cba looking them up this time. I haven't seen one single good one and the worst part they act all autistic and annoying at cons.they are a plague. Marin (and variations) and Yor were the obvious FOTM cosplays for last con season. What are your predictions for this year?
My predictions:
>Yor spillover from last year
>a fuckton of Kobeni and Makima
>Mitsuri from Demon Slayer (her arc comes out in spring)
>Vash Stampede for guys I was wondering if I ever make a cosplay, I firstly understand what makes it bad. Even if I dress properly, make up, good wig, I feel like it would look bad anyway. I was wondering if it is something else, like face structure or just being ugly. Also not talking about cosplays that don't match body build or those that want to look bad ironically. >Are you going? About a month and some change out. I’m really excited. I feel bad for the people who got fucked over by the Courtland Grand (former Sheraton) who had all their rezzys cancelled due to a billing issue. Also that whole Mariott Hunger Games error page (pic related) was a massive shit fuck too holy hell. I don’t understand why everyone dislikes them so much, it’s always so nice to talk to them. They’re so friendly and accommodating and when they come in with their cosplays, you can just see how passionate they are. This thread is about cute furries/kemonos in lolita. Other japanese fashions are welcome too. Please move on and refrain from sperging out if it's not your cup of tea. Previous thread: >>10897117
The Flower Kitten series is releasing this week I'm cosplaying Leon Kennedy and I would like to have a handgun for it. What are the general rules for prop firearms at conventions? I don't want to build a prop and end up not being able to bring it anywhere. >tfw you will never see a haven trooper or Quiet cosplay
God-damned be Demon slayer and those trendy stuff, I want to see big tactical butts and awesome costumes. Years ago, when cosplay started getting popular, but also sexual, I remember being a big fan of a certain cosplayer. They turned out to be quite rude to their fans, and I was left being disappointed by it.
Later as the years went by, I came upon information that her cosplay hype died down, her twitch and vtuber arc couldn't lift off the ground, and she lost her twitter verification, and just isn't popular anymore.
Basically what I'm trying to say in this thread is; fuck that whore. But also how has the cosplay community/scene been? Has it gotten more slutty? Worse? Better? Are people chill, or rude? Tell me your experiences from before (5-10 years ago) v.s now. old threads full and im sick of waiting for a new one so i made one myself >bf says he’ll take me to a lolita fashion store
>ask if it is a sweet lolita, classic lolita or gothic lolita fashion store
>he laughs and says it’s a nice store
>go with bf
>it’s kawaii fashion Debating which mask I wanted to wear to a Halloween costume party, I already have the coveralls and fit them relatively accurate.
I like the right cause it's a classical Myers mask, but I feel like it's been done to death. The left one actually looks really cool to me.
Which one would you choose? need cosplay ideas for pic related
shes 5'10 share images of your favourite maid cosplays, whether it be the cutest girls or the most fashionable and intricate designs. Heya /cgl/! I made the decision to give cosplaying a try. I cant describe how much i enjoyed it, especially because im a very extroverted person. What do you guys think of my first cosplay? :] Recently I got a crush on slav women, they're fucking goddesses
Name: ksana stankevich >that's it?
>that's NYCC?
>that was just a bunch of normies cosplaying as capeshit and whatever the fotm is! Got my costume ready in advance, just did some test shots. Might get some better undergarments for it, but I'm also planning to get something with a lot more coverage so I can wear this on my college campus. 79 days to go
Thread theme
https://youtu.be/v3lwLZ1jKZM?si=Nun39jAnuI-xxSkE Usually there's a thread by now. Holy moly is this con dead. The vendor hall is smaller than ever, they've reduced the amount of room they use at the convention center, and the game room now uses what used to be panel halls. What the fuck happened? Was the move to Iowa really the nail in the coffin?
RIP
For any non crazies, I'm down to do a meet up. Did one at momocon this year and was pleasantly surprised. >the year is 2017
>everyone at the con is checking their streetpasses every 30 minutes
we'll never get this back, and it hurts so much Anyone ever make hooves here?
I can't find anything that looks remotely decent from costume stores
Pic rel is how most of them look and they're awful It's right around the corner, next week in fact! It'll run from October 18-20. Anyone planning to go? Going just casual or do you have a cosplay made up? Wanting to meet any of the guests? Last years was the first, and it was pretty cool, so here's hoping this one'll be good too.
