That's it's it's not a race issue it's a woman issue. ALL women do or think the same shit when it comes to their hair. I've seen as many white, Asian, and some Latina women struggle with their hair as I've seen black women struggle with theirs. Men are blind when it comes to other groups of women doing things to their hair, and that's why these questions keep popping up. Other groups of women wear wigs, extensions, and get chemical treatments to change the volume, texture, or color of their natural hair just like black women do.
No one says shit when they see a bleach blonde Asian or Latina. No one says shit when their white woman co-worker goes to their hair dresser and comes back to the office with a mass of permed curls with blonde highlights. Literally everyday I watch women of all races pick out wigs and fake hair. I've a friend who is white and she hates her hair (early greying) so she wears different wigs of various lengths, styles, and colors every day. I know two white women that hate their blue eyes and wear dark contacts. I just read a blog of a white woman lamenting her lack of hair options compared to her black women co-workers because they constantly switch from their natural hair, to faux-locs, to box braids to long straight wigs or pixie cut. Not realizing she can change her hair as often as they do if she just invest the time on learning how.
Judging by how often black women talk about white people touching their hair I would say that they most certainly don't think black hair is gross.
Not all black women with straight hair have a wig on. Often times it's their own hair just straightened with heat or relaxer.
Also not all black men and women have 4c, black power, afro textured or curled hair. I've met black people that have natural 2b hair.
