Not quite sure I understand your logic here. You say knees are unattractive. But shorts just above the knee already expose the entire knee. Any higher would just simply show thigh, not more knee. So if knees are unattractive then just below should be correct, not just above.

I do kind of agree on this part. Showing thighs or showing calves is better, but knee-length is an awkward place because the emphasis is on the knees themselves rather than the much sexier thighs or calves.
