After 20 years, I'm done with PC gaming.
Consoles + GeForce Now only from here on out.

I've removed my 4070 and will swap it for a 3050, turning my PC into a 4K/144Hz workstation and a GeForce Now machine.

PC gaming has been fun, but the constant cycle of expensive upgrades and tech headaches made me ponder if it's worth it, and the answer is no.

Geforce Now will replace my PC. I can stream high end (4080) PC performance for $20/month without ever needing to upgrade my hardware again, all from the comfort of my living room.

Another factor, is my 5 year old CPU and motherboard bottleneck is due for an upgrade, so that would cost another $500+ with the headache of tearing everything out and installing all the hardware. For what, all in the name of more FPS so I can see prettier reflections?

It feels like a waste of time and money when consoles are plug-and-play, look nearly as good in most cases and Geforce Now has high end PC performance that looks and feels identical, and it outperforms my $1500 PC.

Imo GPUs are massively overpriced. You spend $1600 on a 4090 or $1000 on a 4080 only to be outperformed by a $550 5070 12 months later. That's a shady business practice, fake frames or not.

90% of my gaming will be on my PS5 Pro, especially online MP. GeForce Now is perfect for those occasional epic single-player games that push the visual boundaries.

Keep in mind - a $999 4080 that is outdated in 12 months is equivalent to 5 years of Geforce Now ultimate, 10 years if you do 6/12 months like I plan.

PC gaming has been an amazing journey, but the time has come to move on to alternatives.
