I;m not sure why this is even here. Donations are her primary source of income, yes, but it's not like it's on top of regular income. Regardless, youkai like to trick humans on their way to the Hakurei Shrine, so she doesn't get many visitors. When she does, Much like with real gods, people are generally happy to ignore her until they really need her.

putting aside whether or not she's actually the wealthiest, Yukari DOES often slip money into Reimu's donation box without telling her.

again, not really sure what this has to do with Reimu's situation. It's the Hakurei Shrine. She lives there. Marisa is an entirely different situation.
Reimu's never really been POOR. She often bounces quickly from having lots of money when some particular plan to attract visitors works out, but she doesn't have consistent donations, so she winds up spending the money on necessities like food eventually. We've seen her prepare pretty lavish party banquets by her lonesome before. She makes practically industrial quantities of plum wine every year. She HAS money, she just doesn't have it consistently and she doesn't have savings.
