There's a difference between telling the truth and weaponizing the truth.

If someone accuses you of being a pedophile, that may or may not be true. But once people start dumping our dirty laundry into the public square then the truth doesn't matter, because that person is clearly predisposed to waging information warfare against you. The facts of what being said don't matter at that point, only why they are being said, because you are presently under attack by someone you must defend yourself against.

This is the case here. Using propaganda against the American people, so that they turn against their leadership, is tantamount to a declaration of war. Right or wrong doesn't matter since we are clearly under attack.
