I know lucha has the reputation of being flips and not much else. But the core of a lucha match follows the logic of a standard American match. They do technical wrestling to start. The heels then cheat and do basic stuff like punches, boots and stomps and the faces make their comeback and fly around.

I didn't see that match yet so I can't comment but if you start watching full lucha shows top to bottom you will start to get it over time.

Lucha doesn't really hit the highs of American or Japanese wrestling, but the average CMLL luchador really gets the basic face/heel structure better than the average American worker does these days.
