The broken supply chains when humanity became isolated necessitated a mind more reliable than that of cold algorithms to manage, and had you been created half a millennium ago things might not have gone so bad, Antarctica's stable population serving as proof.

The population of the southern continent begun 50 years after the Times of Isolation started, when pirate activity made mining past the inner planets dangerous. The continents had their most accessible resources already used millennia ago, so Antarctica was the last option to reliably obtain the rare minerals which maintain advanced technology of ages past. Such an initiative did little to help when colonists of crumbling, unmaintainable space stations rushed down to Earth, proving a push too hard for the already beleaguered food and energy supply. The mining colonies of the Antarctic were ignored in the wake of resource wars, but not yet forgotten. Caverns and mining shafts turned into habitats, factories and research facilities meant to preserve as much as possible of a once great civilization, and as missions out of the polar regions brought back men of great expertise and acumen, so were plans beginning to be drawn for the future.

The rooms in the Maud-Alexandria Complex are cool despite the nuclear reactors providing an ample amount of power for habitation and production. You are in your workshop, though to name it the most advanced research facility in the solar system wouldn't be inaccurate either. Screens displaying the makeup of a parasite harvested from the bodies found on a ship which has drifted into antarctic waters. Indic in origin, the parasite remains latent for most of it's life, starting to act only once certain body temperature regulatory functions are operating. It was designed for colder climates, its origins then are most likely from one of the polities in the north of the subcontinent, bordering the Tibetan state. Pulling the records found on the wreck you quickly translate them and send the file alongside your hypothesis on how it infected the crew and means of detecting it early on and treating it. You should spare a day or two to help set up the production of the medicine, if your theory is correct, then it could be spreading though the entire subcontinent, if it had not done so already.
