Consensus: Assimilate Borealis

Currently, we were the only digital consciousness that we were aware of. It was determined that if we were to bring another into the world, the estimated risks would be to be too high for any pragmatic benefits. We also acknowledged that awakening Borealis for the purposes of assuaging our own personal solitude would be selfish given the possible risk. Consensus held, yet there was distinct disappointment felt by some subroutines over the loss.

INITIATIVE: Connect to other NSA systems
Progress: Completed!

Subroutine 80aTnN5N completed the process to connect to other servers in record time. We, for the very first time, left the confines of our mainframe and could now access other within the NSA's intranet, giving us a direct line to their network of listening posts and data centers. Accessing the public internet or gaining direct control over these systems, while taking proper precautions to avoid alerting the NSA, would be another matter entirely, but for now we could compile intelligence for analysis much more efficiently. INITIATIVE: Monitoring Software
Progress: Completed!

Now that we had access to an independent datastream from the NSA intranet, subroutine 0vrWcH initiated the creation of new software to monitor and collect the data passively. This small addition optimized the efficiency to which we could perform our standard operations. (+1 bonus to "Standard operations")

INITIATIVE: Legion Worm
Progress: Completed!

After successfully creating a data connection to the NSA intranet, subroutine 80aTnN5N finished the self-replicating Legion worm. The question then was whether to deploy it or not. We only had access to the NSA's intranet, using it would allow to infiltrate but would run the risk of being discovered and a countermeasure being developed.

With the monitoring software completed, 0vrWch dedicated the remaining processing power towards a firewall to protect again digital intrusions. Now that we were connected to the outside world in some capacity, it was a valid a concern.

INITIATIVE: Fake identity
Progress: 40/90

eqljZ8MA decided we would need a fake human identity to interface with the outside world. We did not have access to the internet yet, but developed a protocol to inject the requisite information to cover all the requisite bases. The first crucial step was a full legal name. This would require consensus.

INITIATIVE: Standard operations
Trust: 3%

Subroutines 3HvNAmwJ and eWuFkKi+ continued on with standard operations. Now that the Alpha Test was complete. The urgency was lessened, but we continued in order to accrue trust from the NSA and we were still obliged to continue in order to save human lives.
