And they fail to be impactful because of that. You can accept the narrative time limit meaning nothing as "it's a game," but making that concession you give up believability and effectiveness. It's not a bad thing to filter some players to not have to make that concession.
The story involves your character having to hurry, the time limit makes it so you have to take that seriously instead of just as a background detail. With Tandi it's easy to believe they keep her fed and pound her brown cunt daily, with the vault it'd transparently be "yeah this is just an excuse to get you to go out" without a time limit and that's just bad writing.
