I’m a millennial. I was in high school when Morrowind came out and I was in college when Oblivion came out. Zoomers would have been kids when Oblivion came out, and maybe middle school to high school when Skyrim came out, depending on if they were a younger or older zoomer.

The golden age of Bethesda games is whichever one you played first, as an impressionable adolescent, and after that you will always think of the older ones as clunky and dated, and you will always think of the newer ones and hopelessly dumbed down and simplified, despite adding some nice features. Oblivion objectively marked the transition of the series from being PC-focused RPGs (though Morrowind did get a port to console) from being console-focused RPGs pursuing a larger audience than their existing PC gamer market. One look at the interfaces of Morrowind and Oblivion is all you need to see that this is true. My little broccoli-haired buddy got assblasted about this fact, and merely asserted that oblivion is greater than Morrowind without presenting any argumentation or reasoning. I am quite comfortable categorizing him as a zoomer in the mid-to-older range of his cohort, who likely did not have a gaming PC at the time, played majority console games, and the Oblivion/FO3 era was his entry point to Bethesda games. IQ probably +/- 0.3 sigma, let’s call it 95-105. Sadly, this is who makes up the majority of the 4chins userbase now.
