But I do like that! It's cool! (Except that 3/4 of the skills I'm losing equipment slots for are worthless)
What I don't like is the miniscule party inventory that has so many demands placed on it.
You have what, eight slots?
One spare weapon (1)
One spare book (2)
Magical healing (for efficiency) (3)
But also potions for humans (4)
Expect two spots for key items (and you don't know if it's safe to trash them)(6)
Status healing you don't need to backtrack constantly(7)
Mystery items to try out (8? 9?)
Open slot for managing upgrades (one item at a time)(10)
See a chest? Want to know what's in it? Too bad, throw some stuff out.
It'd be fine if you had more slots, or storage. (And yeah, you can have a human hold stuff, but you'll be micromanaging it back into your main inventory to use it.)

I can see how they can be useful, and yeah they can be avoided (most of the time) but it also feels extremely shoddy to have them just persist like you didn't kill them. I don't think it's a bullshit complaint at all.

That's interesting. Mine ended up having gas all the time, which was useful, but the other 3 slots cycled through useless or highly situational stuff like ESP, stench etc. It'd be cool to have more control over it, is all.

This part didn't bother me so much. It's just weird and confusing. It's not even the "weaker or stronger?" gamble, it's that the monster TYPE is a complete mystery if you don't autistically map it out. It says lizard meat but you turn into a zombie? Call it a nitpick, but that's weird.
