This is more in regards to the “main plotline” than the smaller npc stories. It’s very slow advancing (because of the number of games) and often has to bring things back to a more or less neutral state (because each new arc has to be able to do it’s own build up) which can definitely be annoying for people looking for Series-wide progress, and I think that gets exacerbated in some of the newer titles where they bring back elements from earlier arcs but don’t really get much payoff from them because as said they have to bring things back to a more-or-less steady state again. Stuff does happen but it can feel a bit glacial if you look at things on the wide-scale.
Each individual arc can generally be enjoyed on its own though.
