What I really appreciate about Garnet and Zidane is that they have genuine interests together. Even disregarding the adventure, those characters would be a great couple. Both big readers and theatre dorks, flirty guy who uses humor to deescalate vs more serious reserved woman who can roll with the punches.
The take on the summoner story is also really great, but I feel like there are a lot of good examples of that throughout the series.
I just wish there was a time later in the game where her take charge leadership qualities paid off, instead of it being more about telling Zidane to stop sulking by himself.
She knows shit is up in the castle and plans her escape, gets to Lindblum and gets benched, so she goes off on her own. She ends up trapped, but given the information she has at the time, it makes sense for her to not just sit and wait and trust everyone else will take care of it. She fights off Bahamut, but then the Invincible takes the wind out of that victory and destroys Alexandria anyway, so I feel like she never got her own big win.
