even though Pillars writing memes are bullshit it's still pretty wordcount-heavy, and to add salt to the wound it really tries to stray away from simple words, using some meme synonyms you either have to look up (as an ESL), or just don't get to use often, so your brain literally stumbles on them while reading
But once you get over it and your brain adapts, there really are some nice writing examples
chances are you are just used to lighter written games.

I would like to see more of this pious religious worldview in fantasy when some dude essentially sacrifices his wife to try to earn redemption on some god's side because obviously that's the root of this curse
Pretty much every fantasy completely disregards what's it like being fundamentally superstitious people.
It's like religion is fucking exchange market for buffs and favors.
also it makes a great opening for the entire premise of PoE story and if someone can't appreciate it than, yeah he is unironically too fucking dumb to enjoy this game
