Pillars One was like watching paint drying once I scraped off the outer layer of silly backer shit, and Two is full of pretentious wokeshit and they didn't even finish the boat mechanics in a pirate game. I consider this an extremely unreasonable offering for fifty dollars and multiple hours of my time but then again I usually feel like the sane person adrift in a sea of oddly defensive stockholm syndrome cuckolds when it comes to Obsidian for some reason that I've never entirely understood.

I still haven't played bg1 beyond 10 minutes and never touched bg2. Mainly due to not having a good computer at that time and being busy with RL over games until the time as of which the immersive experience of games had advanced to a point where I was playing other things and had no desire to go that far back anymore.

My frame of reference is more KOTOR1 (great), KOTOR2(meh, unfinished) and NWN1 (great) and 2 (garbage, engine and toolkit felt unfinished). I was disillusioned with them by the time of Alpha Protocol which seemed like a good premise but you guessed it, also unfinished.
It's been a pattern with me that I usually have better things to do than play an Obsidian game such as play a game made by other companies. Companies that finish games. The wokeshit is a relatively recent occurrence in the grand scheme of things but it didn't make their games feel more finished either, it just subtracted that much more from them. For example, they actually finished Avowed, but with a lot of wokeshit. I don't know why they choose to suck, but it appears to me there is usually an all consuming political subtext with these types of people. For example, Tainted Grail just released and afaik without wokeshit proving that companies still know how to avoid political subtext and finish games too.
