Anon, you unironically need to look up HEMA. In reality two-handed swords are only moderately slower than one-handed swords and nobody just makes one-stroke start-top swings, instead letting the momentum of the first swing carry through into the next one and the next and next and etc.

Essentially, a proper two-handed fighter isn't going for one big slash, he's gonna be spinning that shit around fast enough that you ain't sticking in shit.
