FF9 gameplay is far more tedious. FF8 has basically 0 grinding and is the most well paced FF of them all unless, while in FF9 to even learn skills you have to grind with gear and use specific gear for longer to learn stuff.
This is not even touching on the much worse narrative pacing.

Tetra master is infinitely worse than TT. It's clear they tried to make not-TT, but just made it worse, instead of trying to make a new good original minigame. Triple Triad is the most well regarded and successful FF minigame for a reason, while Tetra Master is forgotten.
