>What is the Ultimate Self-Defense Championship?
A bit over a year ago, former Aikidoka YouTuber Rokas Leo set up a tournament with a self-defense "academy" to have himself and five other martial arts YouTubers compete to see who is best at self-defense. It was a hilarious shitshow that nearly crippled one of the contestants, Ramsey Dewey who would later get into an internet spat with the guy behind the academy (Jeff Phillips) and described the entire event as "piss poor" due to poor management, an incoherent and arbitrary scoring system, running on a very limited schedule, and timing events terribly (like having a zombie apocalypse-themed event that didn't influence score in the middle of the entire thing instead of at the end or something) and doing comically dangerous shit like making people fight on a narrow bridge a good 30ft above the ground.
Somehow, he kickstarted a second one, which features even less martial arts YouTubers. Would this kick even hurt? boxing general
ITT we talk about boxing, not focusing on fights and events but talking about training, techniques, gym shit, injuries, our sparring and fights, ask for advice etc ~~Skateboarding Edition~~
>Where do I start?
People typically start in the gym and branch off outdoors and find their niche, be it bouldering, trad, sport or a mixture of the above. Some never leave the gym at all. Ultimately it doesn't matter - just get started and enjoy yourself.
>How fit do I have to be to start? Do I have to be able to do x amount of pull-ups?
Being light, strong and flexible helps at the higher levels but climbing is open to almost anyone and is fairly intuitive to most. Even if your body is feeble and weak now, you will develop strength over time by virtue of just climbing. Climbing is a holistic sport and success often hinges upon many factors, not just strength and power, but having these qualities definitely helps when you breach into the higher grades.
>What shoes do I buy?
If you're starting out in the gym, don't worry too much: get some snug shoes without dead space that don't cause you lasting pain. Some people (such as the famed shoe designer Heinz Mariacher) recommend wearing soft shoes when you're starting out -- this makes sense since your footwork will probably suck and the increased feedback will pay dividends over time. You really don't need fancy expensive shoes when you're starting out, but certain shoe properties help send harder problems (e.g. stiff shoes for standing on tiny granite edges or soft shoes for sandstone/gritstone smears).

a stolen bike. Possibly a newer used entry level hardtail but don't expect it to survive rock gardens, jumps, or drops. Or an older mtb which won't be as good as newer ones and will still have a front derailleur, but it'll be good enough.
> What good bike can I get for under $1000

Marin, Commencal, Canyon, Polygon, YT, Propain, Kona, and many more. Sometimes the expensive brands have an excellent alue bike

XC bikes are for going up fast, go down not as fast. Trail bikes are for going up and down. Enduro bikes are for going down fast, and slower up. Downhill bikes are for going down really fast, needs a ski lift, truck, or the rider pushing it to go up.

This is a variant of do-jime (banned judo technique but legal in BJJ and MMA) where you have an opponent in closed guard and squeeze your knees on their floating ribs.
Here's a video of a WMMA fighter using it to win in Bellator:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Pel1w2tZYLA
Very hit-or-miss but can either
>do nothing (if they have a strong core)
>break ribs
>fuck up organs (supposedly)
You can hear the opponent yell out and tap immediately
https://judo.ijf.org/techniques/Do-jime
Post more clips of unusual/banned judo/bjj/karate/etc techniques being applied successfully in MMA Would replacing Judo, Wrestling, etc., by Mixed Wresling Arts and Mixed Striking Arts be beneficial to the Olympics?
Consider the following:
> circle arena
> out = 2 points
> knockdown/takedown = 3 points
> knockout/submission = 10 points
> 3 3 min rounds
> protection everywhere including head recommended but not obligatory
> first to 10 points, or with more round wins, wins the fight
I think it would be far more interesting if there were very diverse ways of winning points and different styles actually clashed with each other.
This also ends the notion that the Olympics ruins Martial Arts, since there will be no Point Judo, or Point Karate anymore, just Olympic Striking and Olympic Wrestling. As a bonus you could also add an actual MMA tournament with the best of both sides, but following the same rules.
It's light, and you can probably fight 3 or 4 times in this 3 week period if you are fully protected and you can win by just taking people down and pushing them out. What is your boxing style and stance? Why did you choose them? The answer is IT DEPENDS whether the skill gap or the strength gap is bigger >trying to decide between going for a walk or playing disc golf. Played disc golf yesterday for reference. /xs/! What is best in life? Do you guys know anything about WAKO K1/light contact tournament's?
I was talking to my muay thai coach about competing and he said that's one option but I'm probably good enough to just do some development day fights (muay thai rules but with all padding).
From what I can gather is "light" is meant to be hard enough to drop you if you get hit clean but not hard enough to prevent you from sparring the next day. It's kickboxing so no knees, elbows, clinch or catching kicks. /archery/ Thread #3

Zak Defeats Onosato to win Meiji Jingu Autumn Grand Festival Sumo Title
https://japannews.yomiuri.co.jp/sports/sumo/20241016-216802/
The sport of sumo, which holds such an eminent place in traditional Japanese culture, also has a strong connection to Shintoism.
On the day before the start of a grand tournament, the head referee, dressed in the robes of a Shinto priest, conducts a Shinto ritual. The yokozuna performs his entrance ceremony wearing a thick, braided rope around his waist that resembles the sacred “shimenawa” rope displayed during the New Year holidays and on other occasions.
Against such a historic background, ritual matches known as “hono sumo” are held nationwide in cooperation with major shrines.
Tokyo’s Meiji Jingu shrine has a particularly deep relationship with the Japan Sumo Association. When a wrestler achieves promotion to the elite rank of yokozuna, it is Meiji Jingu where a special ceremony is held to mark the occasion. Later, the new yokozuna famously performs his first ring-entering ceremony in the plaza in front of the shrine’s main hall.
Every year after the Autumn Grand Tournament, an event called the “All-Japan Sumo Wrestlers Competition” is held at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan in celebration of the Meiji Jingu Autumn Grand Festival. The event has a long history, earning the title of sumo’s oldest tournament in Japan. Parkour thread.
Where are you at with your training? How have you been working around the limits of weather and lockdowns? How much do you apply the utilitarian Hébertist mindset of being strong to be useful to your training routines?

The highs are not really that high, but the lows go so far that I can't even see the bottom. A 20 min sesh can ruin my mood for the whole day, even leading into the next day, and the next. Yet no matter how much abuse I take I always find myself crawling back to the obsession.
Ive been skating for over 3 years, and don't get me wrong, I'm pretty okay, But not nearly as good as I want to be. I can literally count all my tricks on my fingers. Really fucking sad and annoying.
I've felt my progression recede, especially in the last year since summer of 2023. I used to fly down stairsets and gaps with steez. Then one day i spent like an hour straight trying to ollie a 6 stair that had a weird landing. Never stuck the landing; kept puting my foot out to catch myself. Ever since that night, i havent been able to do a stairset bigger than a 2. That was over a year ago. I can no longer progress it seems like. I've hurt myself so much doing such basic things that my body locks up and won't let me do anything I'm uncomfortable with. I get fucktards everyday telling me to "just commit bro" well it's not the fucking simple. Easy for them to say when they haven't multiple debilitating injuries.
For reference, I've injured myself to the point where it changed the course of my entire life (having to drop out of post secondary school).
I've thought about quitting so many times. But it's impossible to escape. All my friends/hobbies/fashion/ memorabilia is directly related to skateboarding. There's that thing people say, once a skater always a skater.

Good or dangerous? It's that time of year again, /xs/ is once again playing in a 4chan wide footie tournament. Because if those hipster fucks at /n/ can field a team, so can we.
CPU vs CPU chaos on Pro Evolution soccer is the autism. Will Bam Margera ever get his shit together? Can an imported model of Tony Hawk from THPS3 score a hat trick? Can rollerbladers do ANYTHING right?
Our roster is pretty unchanged since the first team was fielded. Thankfully, more actual random threads appear these days, including a lot more about combat sports. I'll post the roster below. Let it be known if there's any changes you'd like to see, or if you just like things as they are. Is kicking a viable option in a street fight? How do make finger skatign EXTREME anyone here done this shit before? i first became aware of it back in 2015 and the idea of it made me want to shit my pants but ever since i see nothing but reels on instagram of people doing it and now i know that i must. theres not too much on the internet about this though aside from some training schools, youtube comments and videos that ive found. people saying,"dont do this if you plan to have kids" but then checking the accident/fatality rate of participants and its pretty low. what kind of gear do you guys get for this shit and is this the type of sport you can expect to die doing in reality or is that just for people who are shooting for a redbull helmet, not the casuals? Redpill me on Sanda. Is it modern Kung Fu or are the Chinese just stealing techniques and training methods from other martial arts and pretending it was theirs? I see Defendo places around me, from their descriptions it seems like Krav Maga but with more focus on unarmed fighting, on their website it says their bases are taken from Muay Thai and catch wrestling.
How effective is this? Why would someone learn defendo over just going to a regular old MMA gym? Asked in the Muay Thai thread but posting again since I didn't realize how slow it was. Anyone know a thing or two about elbow strikes? How the fuck did this guy generate so much power in his strike? What would I have to do to replicate it? Is Muay Thai the best striking martial art? When it comes to grappling, there's a legitimate debate to be had between judo vs bjj vs wrestling. I, myself lean on some kind of wrestling but I can see the argument for judo/bjj. When it comes to striking, muay thai/dutch kickboxing seems to be clearly superior to say karate/taekwondo/kick boxing/ boxing, either due to more realistic training or better techniques. What the fuck is her problem? I was at a bar and some dude out of nowere headbutted a friend of mine. I stepped in to sepparate them and got shoved by the guy who headbutted him. After getting shoved I froze, I couldnt move, i was afraid and couldnt react.
Up until now i thought i could avoid getting in fights by just being chill. I never thought someone would attack unprovoked.
This made me seriously consider going to a boxing gym. Would this make me not freeze in situations like this? Is boxing a good combat sport to learn to defend yourself? Any anons have had a similar reaction get fixed by training? >mfw I don't need to train martial arts because I'm a natural fighter Insecure 5'9" dude here. If you could only pick one martial art as a manlet for self-defense on da streetz (like a rando walks up and wants to beat the shit out of you) what would it be? The only gym near me offers either Muay Thai or BJJ I used to love urban exploring so much, climbing up the side of abandoned buildings, exploring inside, chilling on the roof. I moved to a country which has a high amount of crack heads in a lot of these places, meaning I can't get that feeling of freedom through climbing since there's more to worry about than just falling. Because of this I resorted to doing stupid shit on my motorbike.
How else do you fuckers get this rush and freedom? Should I go to Eastern Europe to train hop, should I hike up a mountain, should I try shoplifting? Or maybe I should just get into drugs? Does Dana Weiss pay reporters now?: >every question regarding Jon Jones now starts with: "Yes, we all know he is the absolute best and the GOAT, we all agree on that, but..." Tall half white half mexican freak girl savagely beat me up in muay thai class today.
I'm 5'6 while she's easily 6' plus. My nose was bleeding earlier today, one tooth from my upper jaw is loose, while my sides are still hurting from her roundhouse kicks. She humiliated me in front of everyone. I couldn't do shit, just fucking overpowered. She kicked my ass while wearing the most girly clothes possible, a pink gym skirt barely covering her asscheeks, black top with visible sports bra straps, and pink gloves. Our instructor fucking hates me, and I think he intentionally paired me with her to give her a good practice punchbag. She looks sexy though, when she bends, her ass looks shapely. >Hit calf with steel pipe(this time on the nerve position)
>still could do a 100m run(albeit slower than usual)
How is a calf kick going to stop a boxer from pummeling your face exactly? ITT: We take a non-extreme sport and change it to make it extreme.
Marathon but you can sabotage your opponents any way you want. Weapons allowed. Basically the Road Rash game but on foot.
Dodgeball with bocce.
Polo but with rodeo horses.
Water polo but the water is slightly acidic so your skin and eyes start to burn after a while and you can only get out (rotating with other team members) once you score.
Any motor sport but without brakes.
Soccer with bowling balls.
Squash but the room is so narrow and you can get hit by the other player's racket.
Basketball but the court is oiled. Woof!
>no shoes allowed
>better not use the bathroom barefoot or I'll yell at you!
>better shower after class!
>better not train in a dirty gi!
>lemme have my dog that licks its asshole and runs around outside onto the mat
Ruff! Boxing>Judo>Wrestling>Thau>whatever comes from europe>asia>BJJ
Everytime you see someone beating the shit out of more than person they are boxers This is harder than I thought and I get easily knocked out. When I got punched more than once at the same time I start disorienting and I immediately lose. Any tips? Just finished rereading Teppu and All-Rounder Meguru after remembering a storytime on /a/ 2(?) years ago where some Brazilian dude got me into martial arts. If you browse this board, thank you you bastard, soon I'll be participating in my first competition.
Anyway, I'm looking for more stuff like this, I already read Ippo btw. Also, movies and other media are also cool >spend 30-40% of time on practicing takedowns and 60-70% on practicing ground game intead of 10% on takedowns and 90% on ground game
>start sparring on foot rather than on knees
>give -2 points for guard pulling in competitions
>Legalize slams for brown and black belts. And if you're scared to do it, instead ban jumping guard.
>legalize heel hooks for brown and black belts in gi, just like you did in no gi Not like best looking or best at pr, I mean who's the best at fighting in each weight class?
I ask cause I don't see a point in being a fan of a ineffective fighter
Pic unrelated I just think suplex knockouts are brutal, only looking for most effective though Any freestyle wrestling fans here is dancing an extreme sport? Capoeira is very underrated and misunderstood, specially by its own practitioners.
>almost perfect use of momentum
>almost complete mitigation of the disadvantages of falls
>lots of unorthodox movements and weird striking angles
>lots of level changes, perfect for transition to grappling
Yet retards will tell you it's just a dance or that it doesn't work when it has historical proof it worked against even armed opponents.
From what I gathered, it seems Brazil doesn't want to export just the fighting side of Capoeira because that would be racist or something. Can any Brazilians shine the light on why this shit isn't being taught in every school like Judo and BJJ? Which is more skillful/impressive?
>inb4 this isn't an /xs/ sport
Imagine you're juggling live grenades before tossing them. I'm looking for a martial art where people spar without the primary focus of the art being on competition. From my experience, it seems to be either one or the other. I want to do some sort of martial art but there are only judo places and an MMA place nearby, the MMA place focuses on BJJ, kickboxing and catch wrestling, they are part of the Zé Radiola team and some jap jiu jitsu org so I don't think it's a mcdojo at least, no clue how to check if a judo place is a mcdojo or not tho.
I'm mainly worried about tearing an acl due to my fatness. So this is the power of Kyokushin Karate... How do you stop natural reaction to being hit like closing your eyes? ive recently picked up kickboxing and wrestling after a half a year absence from half a years worth of boxing.
the days I can go to the kickboxing gym we just end up doing nothing but 90% conditioning and 10% drills.
I have still yet to learn how to actually properly throw a leg kick, high kick, knee etc. not to mention the place is fucking full to the brim of people.
the other gym where I could train kickboxing at spars really hard (imo atleast) and the first day I showed up they, although friendly in conversation, were absolute dicks in sparring and would go hard constantly even during regular fucking drills. I left that gym with a splitting headache, the first time something like that has ever happened.
What the fuck do I do?
Look for another gym? Why is it when someone asks how to get out of x position like the back strangle the gays say you cant do shit and shouldnt take out the eyes of the one doing it exactly?
If he is going to strangle me might as well make him blind foreva then look me in the eye and tell me Karate is not gay

Putin vs Zelensky.
Rules:MMA
Putin is coached by Xi jinpin and Rocket man Kim.
Zelensky coached by Joe biden and Japanese president
Ring girl:merkel
Referee:António Guterres.
They both have 1 year prep. Long story short, I got jumped by 6 guys and they kicked the shit out of me (fractured my face). Realized that even though I trained years ago I forgot how to fight and I'm looking to get back into it. I got a few options near me they are.
>Muay thai gym ran by a former pro fighter I looked up his fights on youtube
>Krav maga school ran by some krav maga guy can't find any videos of him having pro fights but in a lot of their videos they do sparring and scenario training
I'm conflicted between the two on one end, I got jumped by 6 years so not sure if the krav school is what I want or on the other side I want to actually learn to fight and train with fighters not just jerk my dick and pretend I can fight. What would you pick /xs/? Why are soys and women attracted to muay Thai Is LARP considered /xs/? Its got a much higher rate than HEMA. This might be dumb but so I was reading about slappies and people were talking shit of course, but someone referred to it as part of a set of tricks that had a name, this style has been getting more popular the last decade. Not newb tricks, or retard tricks, but it had a name. There's another move I've seen people doing apparently called a pelican, where you do a rock to fakie but intentionally step off the board with one foot. And that was also one of these retard tricks. you’re supposed to let me throw you
YOURE SUPPOSED TO LET ME THR ACCCKKKKK Is it possible to just never get good at a sport?
I always wanted to drift. I used to rip the e brake in snow and dirt but I just suck at it. I bought a simulator setup and been using it for years and I never get better.
I can barely drift around one wet corner. I just don’t think I can get good at it i never know where the cars gonna go until I hit the throttle and I’m already sliding out of control. Édition Honhonhon

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_issues_in_airsoft I'm looking to get a replacement airsoft rifle for my broken g3. My field is semi auto only and my g3 busted and fires a 5 round burst on semi mode for some reason
I've been looking to replace it anyway
I'm looking to replace it with this:
https://www.evike.com/products/11844/
Is this any good? I picked a relatively high priced one that would go good with my cold war era outfit. (pasgt, m81 woodland etc)
This one's price seems good because I'm guessing that higher price = quality.
There is also the CYMA m16a3 which is lower price but also looks good
Not sure if I should get this one either.. they look identical its weird

Just skate and have fun. You're never too old or fat to skate. Skateboarding is 90% mind 10% body.

Last Thread: >>207401 am new to the sport. whats the best paddle to cook in the kitchen?? (AKA be good in the kitchen.). How would one go about making a martial art/training a bio engineered fighter that much different than a human? bmx riders are coolest, most talented, and do the most dangerous shit
https://youtu.be/YdtjZn1cOfI Any tec divers out there?
What organization did you train with? Pros/cons? Advice for getting the most out of training?
Wanting to do some deep deco diving where ignorance of physics and gas laws might kill me. How would you dive this cave (open circuit)?
This small cave entrance sits 70ft below the water and the length of the entire cave is roughly 150yd's.
Due to the overall depth of this cave NDL isn't to much of a concern especially with EAN36
My RMV is about 1cfpm so I figure gas management wise 240cuft brought to the dive with me at 60ft depth id have roughly 60-80min of air time to do the exploration.
Any thoughts how would you go about doing this dive? Asking for a dwarf friend, what kinda of risks and injuries are there. Would 6 months of training be good enough? Modern skateboarding fucking sucks. Everyone skates like a robot: same tricks, same style (both clothing and trick execution), everyone at the skateparks are way too serious and tryhard. Nobody carves or has any real style, just the same in-line tight truck 5 approved tricks tried endlessly in a row.
How do we make skateboarding like 1988-1992 again? Bright day glo colors, giant ass fish boards with rails, tricks that are whatever the fuck you felt like doing that day and who fucking cares if you drag a hand or a toe as long as you surf out of it. People used to all have a sense of humor and goof around and improvise halfway through a trick, not stand around like soulless autistic robots and give up if the autism flip didn't land perfect in the sperg grind. And for the love of fuck, they listened to ROCK and METAL, not this horseshit faggot ass trap music rap bullshit.
Skateboarding used to be rad as fuck and whatever gay shit it is today isn't worth being around. I don't see any tricks around today that weren't being done back then, it just had more pizzaz then.
Like, watch this part and tell me you aren't 1000x more amped to skate than some bullshit dropped today: https://youtu.be/3c7XV-FC59k?si=RAAuO_Fu-BT8R2RF&t=21
Fuck modern skateboarding, make skateboarding rad again.
