Now apply that lens to OP. She says she regrets it, maybe. But where’s the full ownership? Where’s the “I made selfish, destructive choices and hurt myself and potentially others”? What we’re getting instead is: “I lost my parents, spiraled, lived in a hotel, banged random dudes, probably some married, but hey, I was grieving.” That’s not redemption. That’s a backstory with no climax. That’s a narrative, not a reckoning.

Redemption isn’t just about changing behavior, it’s about facing what you did, understanding why you did it, and actively working to repair the damage. You may quit the drugs and stop the hookups, but the emotional numbness? The inability to bond or trust or connect? That doesn’t just vanish. She still slept with hundreds of man, used drugs, and lost her capacity to bond. If she does have a boyfriend, she will love him the same amount she loved a stranger. If she has kids, she will love her kids the same she would a stranger. She can stop whoring and using drugs, it doesn't change what she did, and it doesn't change the consequences.
