Companionship, affection, genuine friendship, inside jokes, someone who's always looking forward to seeing you again, home cooked meals, not-so homecooked meals on lazy nights, cozy evenings on the couch, someone who genuinely *gets* you, the sound of her voice, the touch of her skin, the smell of her hair, the sparkle in her eyes, these are all just the cheesey stuff that makes love as good as it is, and in my experience getting married only made these things even better.

From a pragmatic point of view, the combined resources of 2 parties can afford you a much better life than just one person and there are many studies that link being lonely/isolated to a drastically reduced lifespan.

Plus there's the obvious points of getting laid and having kids.
