Tough question, and unfortunately there's no simple easy answer. What's right or not and what you should do, you'll have to decide that for yourself. Only thing that you absolutely should do, and what I will recommend is to tell your daughter.

It will be hard but it's a pill that has to be swallowed. That is an unfortunate consequence that your wife has kicked down the road until now. Cant kick it any further. Don't worry about her age, 11 is old enough. It's best she learns and knows now before her teenage years, anyway.
