Nah. All depends on your local housing market.

I rented a top-floor ocean view condo for over 10 years. It was great. I paid $670/mo for it, which was way above market rates because I was a foreigner. To buy the place would have cost about $600,000. The price-to-rent ratio was typical of the market, which is not in the U.S. in case you were wondering. It's a giant pyramid scheme that will collapse just like the 2006 housing bubble did in the U.S.

My view got partially blocked by a new building, and 3 years after completion the place still only had 8/60+ units occupied. The country has a birth rate among the lowest in the world, and stupid old people just keep buying housing and leaving the places empty because "muh investments goin up".

Not only that, but in the last 7 years that I was there, and especially within the last 2 years, I saw MAJOR structural problems appearing in the building -- like, Miami condo collapse conditions -- to the point that for the last year, I was honestly worried that the building might collapse. In particular, (1) at the 7-years-earlier point, I got a parking space on the lower garage level, and noticed it was constantly soaking wet down there, with standing puddles of water, (2) in 2021 there was a notice posted to let people know that a structural support column that had blown out in the garage level had been repaired, (3) about six months after that one of the walls in the parking garage collapsed inward and had to be repaired, (4) there were cracks through walls all over the parking garage level, and (5) an engineering report showed a longitudinal crack through a support column, but what wasn't mentioned was that that same column extended through my level and it was cracked in my room too.

I would not be at all surprised to go back and find out that the building was a pile of rubble, or maybe an empty lot.
