it would be funny if it weren't so sad

if i go to some special protected region with some special regional cheese
and i learn how to make that cheese
and i take some of the relevant microbes with me when i leave
and i return to my home country and produce that same cheese using the same ingredients and techniques and cultures

well, i would tell you that i've made that exact cheese
a european would tell you that it's not the real thing because it wasn't created within some arbitrary geographical boundary
it's a good example of the type of hopelessly childish and naive thinking that has led to europe's decline
