There were a ton of people that tried it, just like bread baking, sewing, and every other homebody hobby. How are those hobbies today? Most people dropped those hobbies and habits once they stopped the fearmongering. That includes adopting a dog or cat. The nember of shelters that are taking back 5 year old dogs and cats is insane.

Heres your average suburbia neighborhood. Maybe a pool. Maybe a trampoline. Many back yards unfortunately are just toilets for dogs now. One of my neighbors is like me trying real hard to make their yard like a back yard oasis. All of his surrounding neighbors haven't mowed their back yard in a year.
