Multiverse shenanigans resulting in a new teen Tony Stark who goes by Iron Lad for a bit, then turns into Iron Man, and then they redo Kang as a future Tony. It makes the most sense.

>they can use him for far longer and have him on the same age bracket as the X-Men
>it's an opportunity to redo Kang albeit differently and tie it with the plot for whenever they use Maker
