I stopped being into Transformers shortly after the end of Animated. Never watched Prime. I've been returning to TF lately, watched clips of Earthspark, the Bay films, Prime, and finally saw Transformers: One a few days ago. I've also been reading the IDW comics and just finished All Hail Megatron. I've been enjoying the IDW comics for the most part, with a few absolutely retarded issues (Spotlight: Arcee, Cliffjumper, the whole THE DARKNESS Arc, the weird retconning back and forth...), and I am excited for MTME and RID. As for TF:One, I thought it was good and I had fun watching it, though it did remind me of why I've dropped the franchise before.
tldr; Hasbro needs to make up its mind if they're going to cater to new fans/kids, or older fans.
More in depth; Transformers is already a hard sell from the getgo. Alien robots that transform into vehicles is going to be alienating (heh) to most casual viewers/fans. I can only see the franchise making money from autists who can bypass that barrier, but most of these fans are going to be adults with their own money. And most adults want slightly more mature stories. I am not talking blood and gore, or sex even, but the stories need more complexity and personally I think all the robots need design overhauls to make them less blocky and lego-like if they want to appeal to wider audiences so that they can make enough money to keep the franchise alive.
As a returning fan, I do enjoy the slightly more mature vibe of IDW and TF:One, but ultimately it doesn't quite live up to that maturity - by chickening out when any sort of complexity is introduced, by reducing the violence (TFOne in particular), and the constant retcons are not doing anything any favours. Hasbro is the king of "safe", but ultimately I think this safety will doom this franchise to death once all the hardcore fans get too old or too tired.

The comic industry was rocked with another indication of massive troubles this week as Diamond Comics Distribution announced its declaration of Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The CEO of the company put out a statement after months of trouble delivering on time following the closure of their Pittsburgh warehouse last year.
Many have speculated how this might hurt the comic book industry, especially smaller publishers, going forward, and Antarctic Press owner Ben Dunn has chimed in to state how it will impact companies like his.
So the fallout of the DIAMOND bankruptcy is yet to be felt but I think it will be shattering to the small press comic industry. The bigger publishers will be fine (i.e. Marvel, DC, Image and the Japanese manga publishers) but even bigger independents may soon feel the pinch. If Diamond can claw its way out this then my hope they will realize what they did wrong and not repeat their mistakes. Already rats are already leaving the ship. Who can blame them though if the ship is sinking or at least perceived to be sinking.
Yes, it is true that Diamond had a lot of hubris when times were good but I think they were short sighted in not improving customer service, relying less on the bigger publishers, by promoting up and coming publishers and creators, expanding their customer base and streamlining their operation. Unfortunately, they may be too late. Do I hope that Diamond recovers? Yes I do. Will it? I dunno. I like to remain optimistic but considering that the market it in a weakened state the outlook is not looking good. The thing is greed, dishonesty and arrogance have long plagued the comics industry. It's been that way since the creation of comics and now we are reaping the whirlwind.
Sasha became a bad guy for two reasons in Amphibia. One, she tried to kill Hop Pop. And two, she tried to squash Anne's character growth after Anne became a hero. At that point Anne had the right to break off from Sasha's control.
So I think Sasha's "lesson" about not forcing people to do shit they don't want to do is stupid. You should do that if you're a leader, especially to peasants. Otherwise there's no point in there being a leader. It would all be anarchy.
I think Sasha was a good and generous person before she went to Amphibia and I disagree with Mutt for portraying Sasha's change of heart as a good thing. She became somewhat weak and timid, at least compared to her old self. It was a drastic personality change, but she only needed a minor adjustment: to stop doing the ONE bad thing she had been doing. I think it sends a bad message to kids that they have to throw away who they are and reinvent themselves if they end up going too far or making a mistake.

I feel like I was (slightly, I would have been 12) but I think a larger part of that has to do with the fact by the time this show debuted Cartoon Network was no longer a premium offering on my cable plan so I was spending my time over there looking for kid-focused entertainment than I would have been when Nick was the only network for kids I could watch.
