That's because when he was sick and near death, he wasgoing to be declared written off and not worth saving because he wasn't eating. So he forced himself to eat in front of the medics until he eventually got better. It made him appreciate food so much he made it a point to eat whenever he could.

I've had a healthy appreciation of McDonalds fries since reading that a few years ago. I don't eat them weekly or anything, but when I do I try to appreciate it instead of just eating it fast. It's processed and low quality, but its still food and if you're going to eat it,I try to enjoy it like Mizuki.
