But to be helpful and since I wear logging pants a lot, doing well, logging:
Yes, they kinda protect against impacts, since they're essentially filled with a thick layer of padding, but since that padding is designed for a totally different job, they don't protect much against that. I got some nasty bruises from loggin on my shins.
Also, they're heavy and hot, because that padding also is essentially insulation.
