And also this. Build a fireball style fabricated vise. There are a million pictures of them on the internet. You can salvage components you have lying around to make one, or buy the parts pre-cut (or you could in the past, I'm assuming you still can) Acme threaded rod and nuts make the clamping screw. The tube in tube design and nut attached to a long tube and supported from the back of the outer tube makes for a super strong design that puts most all of the screw clamping force inline with the screw and the twisting jaw side loads get taken up by the square tubes
