I lived in downtown Brisbane or very close (combo of West End, the Gabba and the Valley) between 2011 and 2020 and the percentage of dudes like your pic related was near 0. Particularly in the Valley, which (I have lived in Christchurch too, it has no equivalent there I can think of) but is where all the nightclubs are, it was near-universally fit men. Yet my buddy who married early lived that whole time around 45 minutes out of the city, deep in the burbs and I'd say when visiting him, at least two thirds of men were fat. So I guess my point is, 'average' isn't overly useful when you look too broadly.

I don't know how much has changed since 2020 but I suspect it's still pretty similar as the same patterns persist all across the western world:
1. Every Stacy gravitates to their nearest big city the moment they're able.
2. Just like with nightclubs, men naturally go where the girls are.
3. Cities provide a lot of choice as most people start off single and the amount of single options also works to keep people single.
4. The competition is fierce in every aspect, the bigger the city, the greater the competition (as obviously, the greater the rewards). Fat, ugly losers aren't going to enjoy city life the way fit chads do and will obviously soon filter themselves out. They're all lined up to buy the Switch as in your picture.
5. Once people couple up they move out to the burbs and now they're not in the competition, they don't need to maintain the same standards + all the usual suspects (getting older, being less active, couple/family life revolving around enjoying food together).

So in short, there's no real way to pinpoint "average" as a useful heuristic unless you're looking very geographically specific. It's also not overly relevant as people's standards for their own body will rise and fall in line with their incentives. Competition for hot women = fit men. Simple as.
