Napoleon fulfilled all that he could or needed to. He'd done according to what the Jacobins considered – and were correct – how republics must fight & terminate monarchies, foreign affairs.
It was successful to rebounce back into republicanism, despite what the rest of the aristocracies, kings, tried to twist back France into monarchy.
It took several tries continously since the absolutists & English garterists can't fathom a genuine republic, and the covert monarchist aristocrats had to be weeded out.
