It wouldn't be that much of a risk. Russians were materially exhausted form war, and only ran over the Germans because they were even more materially exhausted than the Russians. That and the fact Russians were fine using human wave tactics with barely trained and equipped conscripts. This worked in defense of the motherland to break the German offensive and completely exhaust their supplies. It would not work in an offensive hundreds of kilometers from their own territory against an enemy vastly more well-supplied than they were. They'd run out of bodies and bullets in short order using their tried and true (and only) tactic of note.

So any competent soviet commander would withdraw to defensive positions they could actually reinforce and resupply, which would probably be eastern Poland at the furthest extent. Americans would not pursue immediately, because American military doctrine by this point called for combined arms and that would require significant coordination. Hence, a delay, during which the soviets would begin entrenching and preparing for another defensive war like they fought against the Germans, except it would never come.

Because nukes. Nukes that the Americans now had, and the Russians did not.
