BTW, I think this is why Arabs continually refuse to accept Israeli victories. The Jews are supposed to be weak and despicable, and so there's always some "nuh uh, actually" statement about how Israel really lost because Arabs fired the last bottle rocket before a ceasefire even if they got destroyed. It's an honor culture and you can't show any weakness:

Also the criticism of these lawless, oppressive Arab regimes which are in cahoots with the West also come from religious types, Islamists, who reject everything Western including scientific thinking and the influence of the Enlightenment. So the problem becomes the Arab leaders wanting to live like Westerners and be "part of the club" while they shove a police baton up their asses (all true), but the solution is to reject everything Western and purify the religion because the religion is perfect. But other than the occasional surprises, it's not a strategy for developing an economy which is the real basis for winning wars. You look at Israel, it's much more developed, with a much more complex economy than any Arab country.

This doesn't have anything to do with certain leftists groups in Western countries though. I agree with OP though.
