Is it not common knowledge that Churchill was not pursuing peace with Germany?
Germany was losing the air war over Britain and would definitely lose a multi year air war, so they only chance for victory would be physically invading the UK, which they would have failed in.

This was quite different though wasn't it. Post WW2 Poland gained massive territories from Germany which were ethnically cleansed for them to settle. This basically offset the loss of the Eastern territories.
And crucially, the Polish government expected the Allies to eventually prevail over Germany, so why cooperate with them?
They had no such illusions about the Soviets, because the war was over and the Allies had handed Poland to the Soviets.
