For example, there was a famous Shia who said “beware of marrying the Zunj (Negroes), for they are an ugly creation.”

On the other hand, there is a well-known story (you’ll have to look it up) of a )I believe) Sunni leader complaining about the gift provided by one of his vassals, which was one black slave, condescendingly remarking “if you could have chosen a number lower than one, and a color worse than black, you would have given it to me.” Arabs (and Persians) saw the blacks as inherently inferior and feared what the future of their regions would resemble if they were ever emancipated or revolted and began to reproduce in high number. The marshlands of modern-day southern Iraq and Southwestern Iran were majority black due to slavery, and this is where the famous Zanj rebellion occurred. Notice the similarity to the aforementioned term “Zunj”, for they mean the same thing. They were used to clear marshland in the sweltering heat so the land could be used for agriculture. Arabs preferred Turkic and Georgian people for warriors, and Saqaliba (Slavic, Germanic, and Southeast European) for warriors sometimes, but predominantly what we’d call “house slaves” because they were viewed as more charismatic, intelligent.

Honestly you’ll just have to look it up or watch a documentary that cites sources directly in the description or in the video itself. Any YT video about the Zanj rebellion or “Arab Slave Trade” should have ample amounts of valuable information. I don’t keep source lists anymore
