Previous thread: >>7148919 This is a thread for /beg/s and /int/s (there is no /adv/) to share and discuss art. It is 2024, and AI Art is now mainstream. The normies on Facebook and instagram love it.
Almost nobody gives a fuck about "AI art is theft", and corporations like WotC, Blizzard, Disney, Anime studios and art studios are now using AI art in secret.
I saw a skinny metro california guy "taking a stand against AI art theft" and it was the most cringe shit ever. Even if img2img is theft, the consumers don't give too many shits.
It was a nice run everyone, but the public has sided with AI, it has won.
We fought, we lost.
Now we rest. The general thread for Manga / manga-styled comic-making, manga-style illustration and related comic work. That said, everyone is welcome here.
Support each other and talk about your work or the work of others that excites you. Inking, character design, paneling / layout, writing, planning, and other discussions are all welcome.
Post resources, questions, in-progress pages, breakdowns of other works, etc. If a work is not yours, credit the maker (unless it's fucking obvious like a full page of One Piece or something).
Thanks to everyone for making /mmg/ a level-headed and helpful place. Remember, drawing and making comics and manga are difficult endeavors, and we're all in this struggle together.

Previous: https://warosu.org/ic/thread/7139267 Is copying, and understanding, Bridgman's over and over actually valuable?
I heard some artists talking about it, what do you guys think? Maybe large artist are selfish after all. Post your work and I a /beg/ will give you as much constructive criticism as I can Idk these days i just do studies of anatomy and shit and when it's time to actually draw what i like it feels worse.
I though studying makes you better? Because I need a place here to discuss 2D art and post my new stuff.
I suppose a single general is better than making single threads. A thread for recommending and sharing brushes/digital art assets.
>Publicly editable rentry for CSP assets. Feel free to contribute brushes you have purchased. Assets that have been deleted from the store are also welcome to be uploaded here.

>"What brush does this artist use?"/"What brush looks like this?"
1.)Search "brush (from:artisthandle)" or "assets.clip-studio.com (from:artisthandle)" on twitter if that's where they post mainly. Make sure to set it to the Latest tab to see the artist's tweets. Or use Nitter.
2.)Search brush posts on their Pixiv Fanboxes/Booth/Patreon. Then try to see if it's on kemono or archives.
3.)If none of the searches work, then ask here.
>"My CSP is cracked so I can't use the asset store"
As long as you log into the asset store it works even on cracked copies.
>"Where are the other brush sets other than the CSP ones?"
Check the archive. We don't put them in the rentry on purpose because those get targeted in particular for takedowns.

Avoid:
>XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand making Wacom imitations
Poor build quality, pens with wavy lines, wobbly nibs, broken tilt, issues registering light pressure, terrible customer support, uncalibrated. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 8 years, nothing has changed. Consider reading the amazon reviews, particularly the negative spectrum and you will find some very common themes.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). No, they're not info-hashes or magnets; we're encoding the links to keep bots and scripts from recognizing and harvesting/reporting them. I got a positive response so here's the first thread for studying Figure Drawing for All It's Worth by Andrew Loomis. Here's a basic schedule for the first chapter, but feel free to ignore it and work at your own pace. A schedule for the rest of the book will be discussed later.
Start by reading the first 32 pages. Don't worry about copying the drawings yet. Pay attention to the basic proportions pages. When you're done, got to page 38.
Pages 38-49: 2 weeks. Take your time learning the mannequin. Try drawing it in various poses.
Pages 50-56: 1 week
Then spend 1 week going back and studying the pages that were skipped.
Don't just copy! Try redrawing Loomis' drawings from memory after your initial copy, and take note of what you got wrong. Apply what you've learned to photo reference and try inventing figures from imagination.

I just want to work as an artist anon but i feel as though theres a gaping hole in my art knowledge?
I NEED TO DRAW
please PLEASE HELP I WISH TO NEVER HAVE TO DRAW NSFW AGAIN
I would like to be a SFW artist :< Abstract art is art insofar as cultural institutions say that it's art.
To create art is to create harmony. It is to demonstrate a relationship between the disparate elements of a thing by which those elements all accord with one another. This harmony is beauty.
The way abstract art works is that the artists take a quite random jumble of things, and assert that they are in fact harmonious in some way. This is different than traditional art, which tries to make things actually visually harmonious; it's not creating harmony, it's ASSERTING harmony.
Abstract art is inferior because it relies on the viewer knowing and caring about the assertion the artist makes regarding the beauty in the piece. Generally, abstract art has accomplished this by leveraging institutions (museums, galleries, magazines, etc) to give their assertion of beauty more impact. That's why abstraction didn't really take off until the CIA astroturfed it into existence, by the way. At any rate, once these institutions lose their cultural force, so to do the claims of the artists. If someone who had never heard of abstraction found a Pollock in the trash, he'd think it was some sort of test canvas. It's art that can only exist within a limited cultural context.
This is distinct from art which is too intellectual for the average person to comprehend. Monet wanted to capture the particular character of light, and pursued that goal (showcasing the harmony of light without strict form) intelligently. An intelligent observer can decode Monet's work without knowing anything about Monet, and perceive that value.
Pollocks work, on the other hand, cannot be decoded. Even if it does, as he alleged, create beauty by displaying his subconscious urges, those urges can't be detected by someone viewing the art. If he wrote a description of what he felt he had imparted in a particular painting, the reader would be as informed by the description alone as by the description combined with the painting. How do you even study color? Thread to study the female body. Post your art, discuss artists, and post resources related to the subject of cute girls and beautiful women.
No NSFW, to differentiate from /sex/ /asg/ /other generals.

Previous thread >>6916963 >What's a webtoon?
Webtoon is the ancient Korean art of scrolling comics. Instead of traditional manga/comic pages, panels are spread out individually for easier reading on cell phones.
>So they're just spliced manga/comic pages?
You can do that if you want, but they're fundamentally different for a few reasons. For example, panels tend to be drawn longer to fit phone screens, and traditional 2-page spreads are not possible to fit in scrolling format.
>Are there standard page sizes?
Technically yes, but it depends on which platform you post in. Naver Webtoons uses
800x1280px, but the site automatically splices & resizes images anyway.
>Do I have to make it in color?
If you want subscribers, yes.
>Why would I make one?
To be rich & famous, of course. All jokes aside, the pay is low if you're lucky enough to get hired in the first place, the deadlines are more brutal than the manga industry, and the average reader age floats around 11. But as a novel medium with a growing industry, it may still be worthwhile enough for you to experiment.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdpnazNI4Ig Welcome to the first installment of the Yuri Girl Love General. I invite you into these threads to challenge ourselves by drawing at least two or more Female figures and put an emphasis on the figures interacting with each other; that means you're going to be getting involved into a little bit of story telling with your figures - not with words but purely under a visual medium and adding an environment or background with the figures is highly encouraged but it is not required. These threads should operate similar to the Yuri board >>>/u/ in the aspect that a drawing must contain at least two visible Female figures in order to post. For other drawings with a single Female figure such as the "1girlwhitevoid" pin up drawing or any drawings with a visible Male figure please post in the regular draw threads instead.
New to Yuri? Yuri is a genre from Anime that puts emphasis on relationships that are powerful between Females whether they be tender loving, sadistic, or just plain unfriendly. Please visit the Yuri board >>>/u/ for a general introduction to this Anime genre and just like the Yuri board suggests, drawings of Lesbian sex or nudity between two or more female figures is allowed but not required.
Have an OC? Shipping your favorite anime character with another lady? Got a personal project you're working on? Feel free to post them here but remember this is a visual arts board where you tell your story not with words but under a visual medium with forms and shapes. Anime Studying:
>Copy anime references exactly and draw them from memory. Use illustrations, screenshots, anime figures, 3D models, etc.
>Don’t copy recklessly. Use construction, color theory, and other fundamental concepts to rehearse a drawing process that you can later easily manipulate for original artwork.
>Post all of your anime studies. Post even when you’re told not to. Create an art community that actually draws and improves together instead of just talking about it.
>Number your attempts and link to your previous posts.
>Critiquers should lead by example by posting their studies.

>Drawing methods, study habits, resources, tutorials, tools, software, etc
>Be specific and try to post a sample of your study attempts before asking for help.

They are plodding their lives away at something they hate, and doing nothing about it. These are the men who never seem to have had a chance. The truth is, they never seized a chance.

Do you think we should be getting numbers like this for this kind of shit? This just proves you don't need art, just being "that guy"
Is being that guy all you want? Or should you be actually drawing something you want? We need a new art site, this is getting retarded. General dedicated to posting and discussing art of either:
1. Manmade objects, vehicles, tool, weapons etc. (of any kind and any historical era, as long as they fall in the ballpark of "technology") and fictional derivatives of such
2. Objects, vehicles, creatures etc. that aesthetically fall into the visual space of mecha/robot/artificial/cybernetics etc. regardless of level of realism.
Helpful to mention the level of realism, if any, you are taking into account in the art.

Can you criticize my silent comic
I still an amateur and developing my skills, practicing every day despite my busy university scheduleand your advices and criticism is really important for me because it's direct and real (not sugar coated like the one's I got from my peers)
Thank you Do you practice urban sketching regularly?
Practicing urban sketching is the only thing that gets me out of the house, and it has been essential for me to improve my freehand drawing and observation. I usually only carry 3 fine line pens and a sketchbook, but I'm thinking of getting some watercolors. I usually go to squares that aren't very busy, as I still have difficulty dealing with crowded environments.
It's a very positive and therapeutic activity. I used to be very depressed, but when I'm in crisis I always take my materials and go out to draw, regardless of the time of day. I don't think about making beautiful or perfect drawings, I just let the stream of consciousness flow and capture the essence I think most male artists dreamed with drawing batman once in their lives
Is this true for you? How do you go about shading a line artwork? How did your life change after embracing being a porn artist? Do you feel more confident, do you tell people what you do? Do you get to meet more interesting artists? How important is it, for you, to set aside special practice time to develop your line dexterity? How much time to you spend grinding muscle memory exercises? Previous thread: >>7139876

What colored pencils does Hampton use? >westerners can't draw anime-styled illustrat— I used to use this site quite a bit about 10 years ago, but left when they changed the whole layout and colour scheme. Or is it a useless trait that should be phased out What's the best way to go about learning to draw fields in digital? I'm trying to emulate Ghibli's fields in photoshop but nothing comes out looking good. Does anyone have loomis equivalent for sculpting? Specifically clay.
I downloaded one by 'Bruno Lucchesi' but he doesn't really hit the peak of what I would consider beauty. Why is concept art almost always superior to the finished product? I don’t understand how so many kids could be so talented at art at such a young age.

I’m hesitant to believe it’s any meme reason. I also don’t know that it’s just their time investment because there’s no way all of them had proper guidance going through school. Most of them are drawing at professional levels: you can’t do that simply by just grinding. The only common threads through all of them is that they do all sorts of different mediums and subjects and the fact they all seem to do frequent studies. Is this all you need?
How did so many of these kids get so good at art? Are we simply in a new arts and crafts vs art noveau debate?
So by looking at this debate, we're pretty much sure that the arts noveau is the solution to our current art issue? How do you deal with this issue?
Let's say you have a 3d mass which is tapered near the bottom, in an isometric view (0 point perspective) you can clearly see that it's more narrow at the bottom
Now when you add a vanishing point, making the vertical axis converge at the top, things become wider when they're closer to the bottom. This can balance out the box, making it look completely straight
This can happen with a lot of things, like limbs, how do you deal with this? I feel like I might as well just draw isometric or 1 point and vanishing points are overrated For me, it was Pixeltendo.
the "official" forum of the still running! spriters-resource.com website dedicated to emulating sprites and ripping them to learn the basis of pixel art.
The web was still 1.0, there were no followers, no social media, you didnt have to be anybody but who you really wanted to be. Discord was MSN messenger if you wanted to get personal.
A lot of talent, nerdiness, rivalry, love, and just the best part of shooting the shit with fellow artists.
Micha Frar or "Frario" as I knew him would go onto write pixel logic michafrar.gumroad.com/l/pixel-logic
incredibly skilled at mimicking styles, he single handledly recreated Wario and Waluigi in Mario and Luigi superstar saga, a running joke we had was "That wario project huh" but he did in the end finish.
He also made the pixel art intro for Game Grumps.
Shane Gill "BadassBill" now runs DYKG? or Did you know Gaming? Let me tell you though, this guy, was like, metal slug sprites tier. He just dominated and went on to produce art for a game studio. Older than me, more skilled, but was always helpful and made me see through my own ego. Very inspiring for me at the time.
didyouknowgaming.com has a certain sleekness to it, I can only summarize as pixel perfect. Great Web UI.

Previous thread >>6791154 Is it possible for anyone to reach this level of drawing by "just drawing" or is it just something that only talented people can do? Golden age pen and ink was the height of human artistic achievement. According to what I read on the story of art of gomrich, the only reliable source of income at some point for artists were painting fairs.
I want to ask if that's still the case today, or if artists events and fairs are still how a lot of real artists become actually big. I have an issue. i'm trying to gain followers, made multiple posts about it and some of my current followers responded (super rare) and basically, it seems like they want to be more "friendly" with me than what i wanted or expected.
Naturally, being autistic, i now have no idea what to do to clarify i DONT want to be friends with anyone, while still not looking like an asshole.
To keep it short, the world treated me like shit and i am constantly backstabbed, so i've decided never to trust anyone again, at least not as a friend. I understand i could "just talk to them" while not giving them any info beyond what's necessary BUT, that's where my autism comes in again. I'm perfectly fine when i speak AT someone, or when i talk anonymously like this, but an actual conversation where i have an "identity" (in this case my art name), where someone can "SEE" me, i just don't like it.
It feels so intimate to me, and it makes me want to back away and i wind up not saying anything at all. It doesn't help how delicate this situation is either. How do you say "hey i don't wanna be friends with you" without looking like a dick and pushing away the few followers you have.
This is happening with 2 different people. 1 guy came out of nowhere and started replying as though i'm talking directly to him, as opposed to just posting to vent or ask the entire audience i have. The other guy has been following for a while and i pretty much don't reply to him even though he follows me, i just don't want to talk to him because he seems...off. not in the "off" way that someone retarded like me would be either, just like, something is telling me he'd just be awkward to interact with, and i think it's true since if i did interact, i would only be doing it because i feel forced to do so.
wtf do i do? I will never draw like this and it pains me deeply the video made sense to me but his work is still permabeg tier If you are a /int/ermediate or /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. Please stop replying to crabs, nodraws and howies and instead focus on posted works!

Previous thread: >>7146906 For example, why can't manga artists considered subpar like Fujimoto or Isayama draw as well as all their other colleagues when it comes to sheer technical skills and polish?
And why aren't they even trying to get their general art abilities on a master/high tier level despite aknowledging their flaws well enough? Anyone have a list or compilation of ancient art books with ancient, lost, old master knowledge? I want to know how those old farts got so good.
The only authors I know of are the Arthur Guptill books, Harold Speed books, and JD Harding's books. Anyone have any more? The older the better! https://twitter.com/TacticsDesign/status/1783166758137811399 I'm autistic, with ADHD. I can't focus on trying to get better at all or even come up with anything to draw without just giving up and going back to looking at my phone and doing something else.
I've legitimately never been able to commit myself to any serious hobby and have gotten lazy over the years with my only actual one which is writing and the only reason I'm good at writing is because I wanted people to be able to understand what the fuck I was saying and I wanted to write good stories because I thought I'd never be able to make them in a visual medium, but that's it. I've never been able to commit to a serious routine, schedule, or anything. I just sit in my room online doing basically nothing.
Everything I try doing looks so daunting and impossible. I tried learning Source Filmmaker as a teen and I gave up immediately because it looked too complicated. I tried learning how to make my own games in game maker, gave up immediately and never touched it. Even something like drawing just looks so complex and impossible. This is what it's like for everything I try doing. Previous Thread: >>7102789

http://posemaniacs.com Are women naturally better artists than men?
Looking online, there seems to be a lot more women posting great art than men. Female artists get out of the /beg/ phase much faster, are more consistent with their art, are more varied with their styles, aren’t massive coomers, and are generally more soulful.
Why can’t we compete, bros?
Is it because women get obsessed with drawing their husbandos and brute force their way into becoming skilled artists or something? >artist significantly less skilled than you has 5 times more followers
It hurts, ngl.
I busted my ass grinding fundies yet some fag who draws like a toddler can get 30k followers from his scribbles. been seeing some weird conversation about Hatsune miku being "underaged" (like 16) yet i see people drawing her like an adult. i too want to draw her with an adult figure, and couldn't even tell she was "underaged".
is she actually underage? shes a fucking android lol https://youtu.be/uNgyDmxVjUc?si=yNGtofeZVXBSeH3X I don't hate artists for taking the easy route and just fixing AI art as their own
I hate them because their art has become completely identical to other artists who do the exact same strategy
Mark my words.
The market will collapse from oversaturation and these artists will inevitably return to their old ways just so they could stand out. do you guys have a job? if so, how do you find time for practcing art while dealing with other stuff? Long story short, I'm an artist. I got somebody who wants to commission me.
However, they say their country restricts them from paying though PayPal. Apparently they're in KSA (Saudi Arabia) at the time of writing this they deleted that message and said I couldn't know.
They asked that I make a Patreon tier for the *exact* amount they need to pay. They've joined my Patreon before and paid for some tier for a bit before canceling it a little later.
When we met, they "fake scammed me" by trying to scam me (I safely played along with it) before they said "This is a scam, but I'm just pretending" or some crap like that.
Later on, apparently a friend of theirs was talking though their account, saying "oh the person who was here is gonna be in the hospital for 2 years" only for the original person to come back a few months later asking for this exact commission.
I asked where they've been after their apparent hospital visit, and they responded with telling me that they're a gardener. I asked about their garden, and they sent me a picture of the Garden of Salvation from Destiny 2 among other similar images.
Is this a potential scam or is this mf autistic as hell???? What do you think about this so far anons?
I don't know how to share this easily so I will leave a mega upload for now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd-5U5zLM1s Could anime have formed in the west under the right circumstances? I've been looking into Tezuka's life, works, and influences, and it outside of the typically straight hair of most early anime characters, they could just as easily be identified as "western" character designs.
I've also seen other western cartoons from the early-mid 20th century and some come in close proximity to anime but they just never quite got there. How was Tezuka able to hit the nail on the head? Do all templates for manga and anime really come from that one man? For example, the girl in Don Dracula or any of Tezuka's early cute designs I feel could have easily been created by a westerner, but I guess he got there first. That character doesn't look asian on her own, it seems only the cultural context makes people think of manga as Japanese. I'm filling someone's request from last thread

Enjoy everyone! Make lots of art! I have recently gotten a million recommendations about sculpting reliefs and bodies on youtube. It seems like there's still dozens of skilled sculptors alive.
So I was initially wondering about the fact that it seems like traditional sculpture is far better preserved than traditional painting. Even the people trying their hardest to copy the old masters simply will never be able to get it right, and certain techniques even at the molecular level of the pigment grinding methods will be lost forever that make all the difference. Sculpture though? It seems like sculpture is just as good as ever, there is no short supply of stone masons ready to make good work if you pay them properly.
Now that isn't exactly a good thing, sculptors of the past would probably be distraught to see modern sculptors reduced to interior decorators, but I kept comparing the processes and realized maybe sculpture is just easier?
The process ultimately comes down to drawing out three dimensionally in marble, and focusing on the skin tones in polychrome. It requires less focus on the positioning of the final image because you cannot control the way you enter the room, and is ultimately just an easier technique.
Is this why sculpture is not just better preserved now, but also why Romans and Greeks were able to create god tier stuff thousands of years ago, but their paintings barely just discovered perspective at the same moment they collapsed? Is sculpture just objectively the easier artform to master, while painting has a harder learning curve? Moai drawing: Continuation thread Why do so many people shill tracing? What's your opinion on this /ic/? Why don't you do this, /ic/?
Just copy some modern art and sell it for $25,000.
You don't even have to know how to paint. There are no amount of words that will let me accurately describe how much I hate drawabox. Yeah, lets draw the same useless cube 300 times. Yeah, lets make my hobby boring as hell by drawing the least interesting shape on the planet.
>But muh perspectiv!! muh thwee-dee forms!!
go fuck yourself and actually try drawing something interesting for a change. I refuse to waste precious hours of my life drawing a fucking box. I just dont fucking get it. the moment I get to drawing the torso I have no fucking idea whats going on, and it ends up looking like a elementary kid with down syndrome drew it. How the fuck do you contruct a female torso, and no dont point me to heh le do figure drawing, I can dump this thread to image limit of my figure drawings, and regardless of how accurate my studies are, i still cant visualize the underlying structure of the female torso
Im thinking its fucking over, i just want to draw busty anime girls in ntr situations To have creative impulses and never act on them?
J.P said it'll basically fuck you up so bad you'll kill yourself or do rot away.
I have been sorta avoiding drawing even though i'd like to get good at it. I feel very insecure about my extremely lacking artistic ability, though, which is why i've been putting it off for years now.
I still think about it pretty much daily. I got 24 hours to finish this piece, send help. >TRACING IS LE BAD AND WRONG?
Why?
>BECAUSE IT JUST IS OKAY? Even though I use references and can only draw doodles from my imagination. What's stopping (you) from making that webcomic, /ic/?
>B-but, imma not gud ennuf
Didn't stop ONE Am i always gonna be the only one who prefers lips in drawings like this? So a few years ago I bought an Android tablet that's compatible with Wacom pens (S7 FE) but I've been using more as of late because of my job.
Job forces me to move around a lot, it's not "3 years in another country" it's more "5 days here, two weeks there, a month in that city..." so I'm forced to be light...
I'm facing an issue now with ergonomics. I have two "main" setups and they're both kinda painful:
>Setup 1: Sitting on the bed, tablet on my lap.
I get back, neck pain and the occasional wrist pain. Its "comfy" but it's so casual it's hard to lock-in if you get me.
>Setup 2: At the desk, tablet propped with an object.
This one is closer to my home setup and I get a lot less wrist pain from it, but it's far from ideal. The hotel desks tend to be too high and the seats aren't adjustable or soft so a few hours of work will give me stiff shoulders and aching sitbones.
I miss my home setup and desk but it's not something I can bring with me. If anyone has suggestions for portable methods for better ergonomics I'd appreciate the advice... Is trying to draw a semi-realistic face with the whole body on sketchbook/printer sized paper a bad idea? My faces always look like a jumbled shitty mess. Whereas I can draw a decent face when drawing bigger.
The heads usually with the whole figure are like 2 1/2" to 3 inches tall. I have bristolboard/larger paper but I'd rather not waste that on shitty practice.
Picture is unrelated All it really takes is to draw consistently what you find enjoyable and you'll eventually develop a fanbase that is going to commission you. Instead, I'm constantly switching styles, constantly drawing something different and I end up with nothing. Going to the basics and sticking to them is the answer. Have you outgrown this cycle? How accurate is this arm? Wanna try out some observation books here's what I got so far, any more would be appreciated. Thanks I intend to convert a scenario I wrote to a shot by shot, gesture by gesture storyboard. I think I want a big tool for this. I try to stick to linux, but I'm flexible. I'm not a well rounded visual artist, it takes time for me to line stuff up, so all other stuff, like annotation, formatting etc could be handled by something else.
Another question would be, what's THE approach to storyboarding, according to /ic/? Any artists or tutorials I should look up in particular? What should I put in my portfolio for art school? >young artist follows me
>asks me for advice and tutorials
>I link him unhelpful DA-tier tutorials and give him platitudes that'll stunt his development
>he asks for refs
>I tell him I don't have any (I actually have 20gigs) and just to use google images
>report all the uploaded resources I can find to try to get them taken down
Who else /crab/? I'm not going to apologize, art is a zero sum game where only a small percentage of people will be able to make it. There's a finite number of industry jobs and patreon bux to milk, the less people that make it the better it is for the rest of us.
