Board: /ic/
"/ic/ - Artwork/Critique" is 4chan's imageboard for the discussion and critique of art.
I was living commission to commission but recently I got 4000$ in retroactive autismbux.
Is a 1500$ display tablet a sensible investment if I'm trying to become a pro, or should I save and keep using my screenless tablet that still feels unnatural after 5 years? (I know because I've used both types in electronics shops and Wacom showrooms). A place for asking questions, leaving reviews, and discussing anything and everything art supply related.
Special question for US based d/ic/ks: What are your plans for next year when the tariffs increase? Are you stocking up on anything or will it not effect you so much? I tried, I really did. This isn't for me. Can someone point me in the right direction with my art?
I've drawn for a long time now but have no direction with my art. I want to get better at faces and heads since a good face can carry the art. Hell even getting eyes good would be a boon.
Anyway I've only drawn from imagination and haven't learned fundamentals (It's obvious) so where should I begin? I've tried going through the advice given to brand new artists like using fun with a pencil or drawing boxes and shapes and such but nothing clicks or it just seems like busy work that I can't apply to my draws. I'll post more art if it helps diagnose my shit. thanks This is a thread for recommending and sharing brushes/digital art assets.

>"What brush does this artist use?" / "What brush looks like this?"
1.)Search "brush (from:artisthandle)" or "assets.clip-studio.com (from:artisthandle)" on twitter if that's where they post mainly. Make sure to set it to the Latest tab to see the artist's tweets. Or use Nitter.
2.)Search brush posts on their Pixiv Fanboxes/Booth/Patreon. Then try to see if it's on kemono or archives.
3.)If none of the searches work, then ask here.
>"My CSP is cracked so I can't use the asset store"
As long as you log into the asset store it works even on cracked copies.
>"Are there other brush sets aside from the CSP ones?" / "Has this brush set been uploaded before?"
Check the archive. Chances are if it's popular some anon has uploaded it already.

Brush in the OP is in the CSP assets rentry. (ID:1967291) Good to know even a professional artist can still make a simple mistake. Why you should not trust youtube shills:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH1WEYF8rlA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twy5Wo8m284
Do not worry pressure levels. 1024 is more than enough.
Remember to ignore all chinese shills. They often post paid twitter promos from random artists. It's all shilling, ignore it.
Recommended tablets:
>Screenless:
Used Intuos 3, 4, 5, Pro, One by Wacom
>Display:
Small (10-11"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
Medium (12-16"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/S9 Ultra, used iPad Pro 12.9" Gen 1-5
Large (22"+): Cintiq 22, Cintiq Pro 27
Avoid:
>XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand making Wacom imitations
Poor build quality, pens with wavy lines, wobbly nibs, broken tilt, issues registering light pressure, terrible customer support, uncalibrated displays. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 10 years, nothing has changed.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). Just ignore and report him.
>New iPads
Massively overpriced and overhyped.
>Microsoft Surface Pro
More optimized for palm rejection than good quality drawing. Wobbly lines when drawing slow and straight.
>Cintiq 13-16"
Completely outclassed by the Galaxy Tab Ultra & iPad
>Cintiq Pro 16, 24, 32
Overpriced, QC issues, loud fans, proprietary mount interface
>Lenovo
Worse than Samsung in every way.

>Crit Dashboard: https://dad-crit.vercel.app/ Is it too much to ask that they teach you how to draw these toy mannequins? They always show them off in their books and tutorials—these super cool toy mannequins that would make it easy to pose figures from imagination. But then they just show them off as promo material and never teach you how to do it.
Is it too much to have a clean front/side view at least? So you can copy it? People like "Kawaii sensei" and "tenten/whiting" are guilty of this, but there are more. Figure drawing is a fun and good way to get better at drawing humans.

Oh well, I don't know what I expected. Does anyone else feel like they're spreading themselves too thin with all these 3D and vtuber bs? They're adding support for exporting subtools in bulk, so that's something at least. 1: Post a brief backstory if your OC has one.
2: Character design critique and discussion is welcome.
3: Keep it fairly SFW. Lewds are fine but no explicit porn.
4: This is NOT a request thread. Artist Only. No spamming OC/infodumps for multiple threads without delivering.

Previous Thread:>>7351467 Does not even have to be good, I've done a few pages of these literally just copying hands and even trying to draw some without looking at the reference.
Let's say... for every one drawn with reference, you must also draw it without reference.
You must then make a drawing utilizing what you've learned. Don't think too hard about it, just do what feels right and change what doesn't.
I'm just curious what the outcomes will be putting quantity over quality. Pic related. Why You Should Copy Anime:

**Strive for quantity AND quality.**
Anime Studying:
>Copy anime references exactly and draw them from memory. Use illustrations, screenshots, anime figures, 3D models, etc.
>Don’t copy recklessly. Use construction, color theory, and other fundamental concepts to rehearse a drawing process that you can later easily manipulate for original artwork.
>Post all of your anime studies. Post even when you’re told not to. Create an art community that actually draws and improves together instead of just talking about it.
>Number your attempts and link to your previous posts.
>Critiquers should lead by example by posting their studies.
General Anime Style Discussion:
>Questions about achieving certain styles/techniques/compositions etc.
>Drawing methods, study habits, resources, tutorials, tools, software, etc
>Be specific and try to post a sample of your study attempts before asking for help.
**Draw copies from good anime styled references to mindfully up our mileage, internalize appealing aesthetics, and learn from each other’s processes and knowledge.**

Remember: we're all GMI. Been drawing/art since I was about 8.
Was pretty shit at every other thing in school and grew up in a bad home, so it was my outlet.
I do primarily ballpoint pen on Bristol.
I personally still think I have a long way I can go, but getting more comfortable with sharing. Is this book actually a decent and effective way to learn to draw, especially for comics and animation? I mean, I'm sure it's okay enough, I'm just wondering if anyone's actually gotten anything out of this approach to gesture drawing (which seems almost contradictory to other approaches) and shit like mass drawing. How the fuck!? How do i get rid of my twitter shadowban?
I draw vtuber porn, my stuff doesn't show up in hashtags Have anyone tried to optimize their inking, coloring and rendering steps?
I need a faster method than just doing inking the traditional way on a 2D raster tool.
Like, have anyone tried to do inking on vector tools like inkscape or 3D tools like blender?
I think Coloring can be optimized with stuff like GMIC random automatic fill color, but not sure.
About rendering, I think it can be made using a normal map or depth map tool from 2D textures, then use blender to create a 2D normal map rendering.
Then all would be compositing in Krita, I assume. self-explanatory: post art which inspires you and which may inspire your fellow anons. >opinions on taking a week off?
usually when i take a week off drawing i come back better than when i stopped. im not sure if its more of an improvement than if i just kept drawing though. torn between taking occasional breaks and constant practice. i dont really like to take any time off just because i feel like if im not practicing im not getting anywhere Looking for some refs, can only find AI though. Thread for sharing tips and asking questions about inking.
My Question: How to ink a perfect circle.? I've noticed many artists do master studies of their favorite artists. Should I focus on learning the general foundations of art first, or start with master studies and learn the foundations later? Go, my fellow trend chasers, draw this in your style..

Seems stupid, but I figured out I can get more stuff done by separating sketch, inking, matte coloring and shading into 4 sessions instead of trying to get everything in one day. Anyone can improve if you put the work. I will stop rellying on my own sketches and constructive work.
It's a meme to do imagination work, because 100% there's always some issue.

Per usual, don't respond to bait and simply report/ignore anything that isn't conducive to drawing. I feel in love with a OC of mine, now I can't stop drawing her. Have this ever happened to you, /ic/? If you are a /beg/inner or /int/ermediate in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Please stop replying to crabs, nodraws and howies and instead focus on posted works!

Anons who've done nsfw commissioning, I need any advice you can give me on how to be a good business man and not piss people off.
I plan on doing free requests, then growing enough to open a nsfw pateron.
I got several questions:
1) How should you overall communicate with people? I plan on being direct and keeping talk to a minimum so that I can get shit out of the way and avoid potential drama.
2) What was the worst customer you've encountered and how did you resolve the situation?
Share any experiences you've had and how to effectively deal with them. How to stop being neurotic about your art?
How to stop being the artist that deletes their entire gallery overnight for no reason? Artgermbros what happened ? I love when retards claim that you shouldn't make your art like ultra charged of elements, like they did in the baroque era.
Because the arguments aren't from theirs, but always because they learned from some youtuber or teacher that told them that art shoiuld be minimalists.
Minimalism suck dick shit and looks like garbage.
There's a reason why baroque art is preserved at museums but modern art is mistaken with trash to be thrown.

Enjoy! yo guys. I wanna draw a beautiful perspective in my drawings. do you have any good exercises for this topic? aha or maybe drawing three-dimensional figures is enough? Noah Bradley, I've seen his name on here quite a bit but don't know much about him but from browsing his twitter
this motherfucker literally poses and paints his wife (girlfriend?) quite often, a lot of times by herself in a lewd way
I wonder if this is like some fetish shit or what
https://x.com/noahbradley Ai is getting better. People are now making animations with prompts that, while novel, will only get better too. Who will be paying for art in 5 years anymore...
I'm feeling depressed bros. Any idea on how to get similar results and if this is style is appealing ? Considering investing in a drawing figure. Anyone knows one thats versatile and make a wide range of poses? Should I buy this? I really want those 3D models. idk, the anatomy feels kinda off but i cant put my finger into it Welcome to /life/. Life drawing is a great way to solidify your understanding of perspective, forms, and movement in the real world to apply them to your own works and pieces. Drawing from life is critical to your development as an artist, yet unfortunately ignored by many artists. Draw from life. It has all of the answers to any question you have.

The age of the copyfag is over. The time of the lifechad has come.“ What do you think about this guy? He's your typical "artist wanna be" turbo autist who got a golden ticket to do whatever an artsy autist feels it needs to be done to "make it". He's renting a huge studio in NYC, he made an art trip to Europe with a bunch of people, he just did a failed art exposition in Down town NY with his crappy shit, and he's using "his" own money. He seems to be using the UNI money for this and he's going at it all gas no brakes. He's gonna crash eventually and it's gonna be epic.
His art sucks, but I think that such epic and "based retarded" effort deserves the attention of everyone here, to see what happens when you got yourself high in your own delusions. This guy is setting himself on fire for art, and he doesn't give a fuck, till he start feeling the flames, that is. >There is one thing not to do, and that is simply to drift along with the daily routine, making no extra effort. You will soon find yourself middle-aged, having done nothing more than routine jobs, and being little farther along than you were years ago. The extra effort is the difference between the great mass of mediocre artists and the comparatively small group of very good ones.
>And in Art, study can never stop. You will find sketches galore in the studio of the good man, with the paint quite fresh. The mediocre artist's sketches are old and dusty.
>I have seen so many middle-aged artists still hoping, whose samples are frayed at the edges, and thumb-marked with time. Sometimes it has been a matter of years since they sat down and actually did something to give their hopes any promise. They are plodding their lives away at something they hate, and doing nothing about it. These are the men who never seem to have had a chance. The truth is, they never seized a chance.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbBJYBK3D_k i’m not sure if i’m just being bigoted but whenever i see certain drawings depicting obesity, self harm, scars in general, and an overall poor display of anatomy i assume the artist is disabled/ homosexual and i’m usually right
so, why do they draw that stuff and how come it’s such a common pattern between them I just cured my aphantasia through meditation. It literally levels you up. you can look at a piece of paper and visualize the drawing before you even move your pen. Anyone who doesn't learn to cure this is NGMI. what makes Photoshop popular among professionals although it's expensive? Where do you draw the line between referencing and copying? Why have art schools declined so much? Nowadays art schools are either terrible at teaching art, require a background in art already, or focus on fundamentals too much rather than preparing a student/apprentice for a specific market. Just recently in the 19th century american mormons were sending off inexperienced missionaries to europe to learn under french and danish masters and they came back with phenomenal painting skills. You hear so much nowadays 'Art school doesnt work," "Debt trap" and other criticisms but it clearly wasnt like this. Now if you want to be an artist, most art careers have people who are self taught and for the poor undisciplined unguided person who wants to be a painter, character designer, animator - he largely has to figure it out on his own and find a mediocre replacement like an atelier workshop or an online course. >doesn't draw boxes

>just draws the whole outline in one go, starting at the top with the head and arms and working his way down
Isn't this exactly the "wrong" way to draw? Why isn't he drawing boxes? What's going on?
These are just 1 minute practice sketches but if you check he's finished pieces you'll see he's clearly very skilled. Why does it seem like everyone in Artstation is trying to be a concept artist? Is there a benefit to that position, or are people just too lazy to finish drawings? I have a wacom tablet to draw digital one of those intuos small and I think it is enough to draw in CSP I was thinking to get the Samsung S9+ but as an artist this is really an expensive gadget.
It is really worth the price to draw digital, I mean I will notice a difference drawing or should I save the money and keep drawing in my mini tab which I think handles the work perfectly. >dude, you can't enjoy kusoge art because is bad cant draw anything, you have a million ideas of what to draw but cant because you can barely draw a stick figure
people who started drawing as kids dont know how good they have it, its basically like being born the son of a billionaire and sole successor of his fortune
there is truly no harder part of drawing than trying to start as an adult /beg/ Any idea what this aesthetic or style of art is called. I’m going to be painting pottery and would like more references. So if you know what this style is called or have any pictures saved that fit this style please post below. I have tried: Morpho, Huston, Loomis, Proko, Goldfinger, Will Weston, Xiao (the chink), and Hampton. Are there any others? Specifically I am also seeking muscle insertion and exit points, simplified shapes ,etc. if anyone has a link to Proko's video notes in .pdf form that would be excellent, i simply do not have the time to watch a million 20 minute videos. Get to drawin! I'm trying to understand the artistic style that is characteristic of ancient Greek vase painting.
If anyone can help me with this, that would be good. >MUH FUCKING SILHOUETTE NEEDS TO BE RECOGNIZABLE
Why do westerns keep vomiting this stupid argument? This is why most western designed characters look like deformed freaks. Several of the most succesfull franchises in the world have characters with identical silhouettes Would you generally agree with the opinion that Gachiakuta objectively has some of the best character design work in modern animanga? What's the point of drawing in anime style or trying to become a mangaka if you're not japanese? Post some good compositions. We have to many cris threads rn. I don't lurk this board often, but where can I commission someone here to draw my PUBG character in 2D/Animeish style?
I can pay in several ways. If one was born with inferior motor skills would they still be able to be a great artist?
I love art but I have always had very poor fine motor skills, I didn't learn how to tie my shoelaces until I was 12. I have always wanted to do art but it feels like I have a genetic disadvantage and must work 10x harder than anyone else to succeed.
Is there any way I can improve this?
I have started drawing consistently for the past few months and I have progressed but I still feel like if I was born properly I could have been way better by now. In an old Monastery that is often booked for seminars and things...
Previous thread >>7221414 The following problem arose in my tablet out of seemingly nowhere.
I draw using the aformentioned model (H610 Pro V2), using Krita as my drawing software. I began to notice that every so often, the tablet would stop registering my pen strokes but for an instant; at first I thought it was just a temporary glitch or fluke, but that is not the case. It keeps occurring, and it's hindering me from drawing. I've never had this issue before.
I've already uninstalled and re-installed the Huion driver, restarted the PC. I've got no leads to go on, and some advice or help would be appreciated. It's brazenly obvious that there's more to how the dynamism on the right was achieved that isn't just the fact that "there's a line of action"

top image on the right has a pretty shitty silhouette

you look at the guy on the top-right and tell me it's just because they're good
>energy/body language
does that look like a punch to you
