"/ic/ - Artwork/Critique" is 4chan's imageboard for the discussion and critique of art.
Thank you, for gifting this world with so much creativity.
Imagine the war within. While they were making these films. How do you even avoid art decay? How to do this assignment? Need a break from drawing? Something's on your mind? Come to the water cooler. Remember to stay hydrated. can we get a thread going for this sort of thing. tips, tricks, small improvements youve made to your workflow/workspace.
e.g. - i have sanded down a sheet of plastic to use as a cheap replacement for my worn-smooth wacom overlay sheet. its the kind you buy at any hobby store for like $5. works pretty well, though its starting to become worn smooth itself after like a year of use. Draw these figures in yuor style No, I don't think AI art should be commercialized
No, I don't think it's real art in a practical sense
Yes, I think someone making a Ghibli-themed version of their selfie or their dog is fine
Coomer artists are just mad they can't capitalize on some rich weirdo's fetishes anymore
This is a novelty for the layperson and nothing more. Anyone else in the art scene understands that AI slop isn't real art and will continue supporting real artists. The people who like this stuff don't like it because they want to look at something painstakingly handcrafted with skill and labor. They like it because it's just neat, and they never would have supported the online art community anyway. Zoomer dudebros and Facebook moms don't care about furry OC's
Regardless of what you think, the genie is out of the bottle.
You can still keep drawing. $100,000 digital cameras and editing software make my Canon A1 obsolete but I still like taking pictures with it. Last time on Dragon Ball Z >>7526363
>New here? Please read best practices.
1. Don't post too revealing works (especially porn). If you think it's too lewd, post a censored copy here and link to Catbox (https://catbox.moe/) or any off-site that hosts images for your works. You may also link back to /b/.
2. Keep it to 2D Anime/Cartoon characters only. Do not post chiId photo references (legal or otherwise), and do not talk about issues regarding real children.
3. It is recommended to let the thread reach page 6-7 before starting a new one.

https://online-courses.club/anatomy-of-clothing-2019-by-ron-lemen/ Please stop drawing. AI can draw for you also the animation industry is ruined ummm fine art is nepotism so no point in doing trad what else. i have autism no asian genes. my hand is broken in 36 places. mama didn't love me. my dad beats me every day with iron boot. hmm what else am i missing
+10 social credits
also don't you feel so insecure about your drawing despite being a total beginner and then comparing yourself to other people who've been drawing way longer but that doesn't mean anything because they're so good now and probably never drew as bad as you are drawing today. they're probably laughing at you and how bad you are and that is why nobody should draw. sometimes drawing is hard so give up. don't do it. I'm telling you. also nobody cares about your anime your trad your art you are bad and you should feel bad always. fuck you Hello my fellow wage slaves. I'm curious about what people on /ic/ do for a living while they still draw purely as a hobby on the side so I made this thread hoping it gains atleast a little traction and it would be a nice change of pace

/lit/ recently wrapped up its monthly writing contest (17 short stories were submitted and voted on >>>/lit/24240097).
At the beginning of April, a book is going to be made of all the entries—it's going to to look something like this:
https://files.catbox.moe/847oya.pdf
>161 pages
Us authors (yes, I'm an emissary from /lit/) have been discussing the prospect of including illustrations in the book for this month's (March's) stories.
There's a writing contest on /lit/, why not match it with an illustration contest on /ic/?
Here's how to participate:
1. Read one of the top-six stories from March:
(btw I am not one of these authors)
>'Frankenstein; or, The Modern Pygmalion' by meteor
https://rentry.co/y5289rey
Or
>'M22' by Heng
https://rentry.co/M22_Heng
Or
>'Chicago' by Meadowlisp
https://rentry.co/chicago_meadowlisp
Or
>Cotton Candy Grapes™' by edisonm
https://rentry.co/FrozenCottonCandyGrapes
Or
>'The Visitor' by Watson
https://rentry.co/the_visitor
Or
>'Wotan' by Pancakesyrup
https://rentry.co/9of5iwny
2. Make a piece of art inspired from what you read!
(No resolution requirement, but dimension-ratio should be 4:5, portrait).
3. Post your art in this thread using a trip
>In the name field, write "MyName" + "#" + "8CharacterPassword"
And also mention somewhere which story your illustration is for.
4. You have until April 1st to "submit," i.e. post your art in this thread --> At that point a Strawpoll will be created, which will be up until 11:59 PM GMT April 5th.
The winning illustration will be elected through the votes on Strawpoll, and will grace the cover of the book containing March's stories (as well as granting its artist bragging rights as the first-ever /ic/-Illustration-Contest winner).
[CONT'D BELOW] also known as "Idk what the fuck to draw so I will just scribble" thread
post your silly doodles that come from your most surface thoughts because we know that head is empty rn and needs some inspiration
(you may also use this as a refuge from the howie threads) Post weird composition choices >What is /fag/?<
This is the Furry Art General thread, here we post everything related to kemono, furry, and animals alike.

I'm trying to wrap my head around using this for warm ups but my circles are shit have been for ages regardless of how many circles I crank out. I can actually just draw a face in the time it takes me to accurately line up all this shit so I've never bothered with it and just been going in raw, but I feel it could help long term to internalize it, quite the bind. Thoughts? Pic related. Top one was yesterday bottom one today. Feels bad. Figure drawing is a fun and good way to get better at drawing humans.

Anime Studying:
>Copy anime references exactly and draw them from memory. Use illustrations, screenshots, anime figures, 3D models, etc.
>Don’t copy recklessly. Use construction, color theory, and other fundamental concepts to rehearse a drawing process that you can later easily manipulate for original artwork.
>Post all of your anime studies. Post even when you’re told not to. Create an art community that actually draws and improves together instead of just talking about it.
>Number your attempts and link to your previous posts.

Oh nice, a site to quickly find a bunch of head references from a variety of angles!
>something like 95% of the 3/4 view heads are cropped and cut off the back quarter to half of the head
How do you fuck up this badly?
Got this docu recommended about "German Mangakas" not being able to make a living off of their "manga"
First things out of the way
-AI inbetweens used multiple times
-caught this ogre selling ai slop
Don't argue.
Now unto the thing itself.
-They complain about long working hours, burnout and all the usual stuff
-They complain about publishers not enabling them to make a living when these can only pay out by what they sell, meaning they aren't selling a lot.
European comics have been struggling for decades that they print at the bare minimum and you might not be wrong to say they've died out, yet these "Mangakas" think they can make a living in an oversaturated global market, in their own country where comic and reading culture has been completely eradicated by the internet and where the majority of the demand is for imported Made in Japan shonen.
There is no demand for other stuff because everyone doesn't read anything and they "like anime".
I can't tell you the names of any current European comics, except very old ones like Dylan Dog, Diabolik and Tex, because there is no real culture or presence of it unlike 20+ years ago because you would see those either being advertised or displayed at kiosks and newspaper stands, or in the case of the examples; because someone else read them.
Basically, there is no exposure at the social level, unlike Japan where they are more or less surrounded by Manga everywhere they look that there is a huge demand, support, advertisement, options and a system to get your work out there
In Europe? The same old boomers, weebs and no one advertising outside the niche.
What's the non-jap exposure to manga/anime? After school cartoons on TV and maybe they watch all the shonen stuff on Crunchyroll and Netflix of course Hentai, too.
My point is; If you want to pursue Manga outside of Japan, at least be as good as the Japs, learn to read and write and use European mythology/culture and stop doing/consuming nothing but shonenslop. A 20 minute break is good right?
So just enough time to watch an episode of anime? Once upon a time, stuck in a waiting room, I drew a random picture in a new sketchbook I brought to kill the time. It was a demon head, and then I thought of Why it was there. And spawned this story, taking a decade and 180 strips later it is only two thirds told.
It was very rough in the beginning, unplanned, unconceived,a haphazard journey that my sleepy mind oozed onto each page, and only after 30 strips in was taken seriously. And I watched the story grow.
I will share this with you all.
***DISCLAIMER***
These are "storyboards",never meant as Product, but wound up on my website because I had nothing else to upload. I will "translate" the chicken scratch wriwhere neccessary, and toss a few tidbits of facts for consideration. So,any and all crabs who decide to deride the story will be simply stating their retardation by doing so.
With that said,enjoy.
Why you should not trust youtube shills:

Do not worry pressure levels. 1024 is more than enough.
Remember to ignore all chinese shills. They often post paid twitter promos from random artists. It's all shilling, ignore it.

Medium (12-16"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/S9 Ultra, used iPad Pro 12.9" Gen 1-5

Avoid:
>XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand making Wacom imitations
Poor build quality, pens with wavy lines, wobbly nibs, broken tilt, issues registering light pressure, terrible customer support, uncalibrated displays. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 10 years, nothing has changed.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). Just ignore and report him.

Your choice. Honestly, just draw. Use what you have. But if you want, you can get it. You can do it digitally, but try to refrain from using ctrl+z and other features. At the end of the day though, do what you want. As long as you put the work you're gonna see progress.
>I'm /int/ (as if, pyw faggot), should I bother?
If you want to expand your range of subjects, I recommend it. It also covers a lot of fundies that doesn't hurt to revisit. I suggest you start with DS2 though.

Will he finally learn anime now that the 100 heads challenge is done?
Now he wants to get away from doing one-to-one copies and instead focus on taking a real life reference and drawing it in an anime style or a semi-realistic style, because in anime proportions can differ from style to style and so it's hard to get a consistent feel for how things should look. He thinks he could better do that by finding his own way and style.
Discuss his approach to anime? Should we all follow it?

Enjoy! Where can I find resources on how to draw extremely muscular women? Which art is good from wombyn? Do you support wombyn of colour? How are people taking commissions these days? Do you need to have like billion followers on twitter to get one?? How do you get commissions? Do you draw something specific? Do you have a big place to post on? Not saying I've never got one, i have an experience with working on commissions, but last half a year I can't get any at all. Please share some Lifehacks or something, it would help a lot (I don't post on 4chan a lot, so I hope I'm not breaking any rules by asking this) (pic posted is my art, just showing what my art style looks like) give me character design ideas pls I needa redesign her I never drew (or read any to be frank) comics before so i have no experience on how to do one. i mainly concerned about 3 points but if you spot anything that doesnt look right let me know.
god knows i need a pair of fresh eyes for it.
1st is clarity. due to an excess of details of my artstyle im worried that characters arent very clear. so do you understand where everyone is?
2nd is consistency. do you recognize characters in between the frames? is there any confusion of who is who?
3rd is actions. I have a lot of experience of drawing on drawing still images but i have very little were things actually moving. do you understand what each character is doing?
this is 1st page, i planned it as an establishing one to set the scene.

No, they're not magnets or infohashes; they're just plain old URLs that have been encoded. We're doing this to keep bots and scripts from recognizing them as URLs and harvesting/reporting them. The recap posts at the top of the threads have GIFs or WEBMs explaining how to use them. Also, some of the encoded links *may* have multiple layers - like ogres ... or onions! This is a legitimately difficult to hole to crawl out of. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and nobody will even give me the slightest hint. Has anyone here extensively practiced cognitive drawing? How did it work out for you? Sometimes i fantasize about having my own Bengali sweatshop to finish my homework for me.
Unfortunately i am the third worlder that is to be repeadly whipped and overworked I just wish I started drawing fulltime and taking art seriously back in 2019 instead of now.
So many wasted years and I'm still shit while many of my old mutuals got really good and are way beyond me in terms of skill.... proportion bros...

lmao.
pls rate. If you draw porn, how do you not get horny in the middle of drawing it? Or get horny by looking at your reference?

Serious question. >the artist you want to see nsfw from the most doesn't draw nsfw at all Alright I got $100 with your name on it. What can you draw me for $100? It doesn't have to be 1 drawing.

It will make you feel untalented some days.
Love it anyway.
Because one day, it will also surprise you, fulfill you, and remind you why you started. I don't give a shit about the art dogmas made after 1850.
It's a mental virus that has totally infected all the arts.
I was forced to self teach me using before XX century teachers in forgotten books in archive . org and ligben . is. i'v'e literally never seen one of these posts where the second picture is also traditionally made. Found this tiktoker with 6 fingers.

nurses are amazing to study because they can range from literal teen bodies to venus of fertility milfs. This took me actually a shit ton of time to actually learn to make this.
but pls rate.
:D This is my OC, she is a magical girl. Rate and share yours. I think I got today lucky where I switched between left and right drawing modes in the middle of making all my assets for today.
So I decided to show you a little art lesson.
The diference between how the left side draws and how the right side draws. Has anyone done low res pixel art, then used a SNES emulator upscaler filter, then did a quick paintover to fix some issues and bring up the quality?
I found the method is much much cheaper than doing an entire HD work from scratch and the result is not as terrible. Thoughts on the Pewdiepie method of learning to draw? It seems from watching the videos he made on the process he just spent 10-20 minutes a day doing a mix of copying manga panels as his only reference and making anime girl heads from imagination Biggest beg trap in art
You can draw perfectly fine from the wrist
Heres an in progress shot of a thing i am working on. Geometry is hard but fun. I enjoy the challenge of doing it by hand. Yes digital would be easier but im not cool like that.
I am referencing a book about islamic geometry and a book with japanese sashiko embroidery designs. Ive noticed that even though the two cultures are different, the geometry they use is kind of similar sometimes. Thats badass.
Once i get this part how i want, im going to trace the final geometry onto a piece of clear plastic wrap with a sharpie, then reinforce the plastic with a lamination of clear packing tape. You gotta be careful not to fuck it up and wrinkle the plastic tracing as you reinforce it, otherwise youll want to die.
I dont like to use too think of plastic. Not really saran wrap, you dont want a plastic with too much stretch.
Cellophane sleeves works, but it's really thin. recycle, motherfuckers.
I center the sharpie plastic wrap tracing over my painting on canvas, line it up where i want it, then i tape it in place.
Then i use white or graphite transfer paper beneath it, and trace the geometry on the plastic with a dull thick needle or empty pen.
I then touch up the transfer with a white water soluble/pencil. Sometimes i freehand stuff with the water pencil, so im not rawdogging the next step of the painting entirely.
i try not to use too much graphite pencil on my base layer bc itll muddy the next layer of paint.
Sometimes ill trace the transfer with a thintip paint pen if it's that kind of painting. But you gotta be careful bc you dont wanna press too hard and flood out your base painting.
It would be easier if i were cool enough to paint all this on paper, and trace it using a lightbox .
But this is going on an acrylic painting and i hate myself so i enjoy making things stupidly difficult and needlessly complicated.
That is my process, i enjoy it and wanted to share the process and some of the more miscellaneous tools i use. Youre welcome and Fuck you <3 How can I stop comparing myself to other artists when other people like to compare and criticize two artists' work all the time? My own thoughts can't have worth unless its backed up by other people. >he doesn't study Langer's lines
OH NO NO NO NO and how much time should you spend doing backgrounds?
Picrel for example, Araki drew the character a few times, and the rest was done by an assistant. If I wanna draw my comic at a steady rate, can I get away with drawing undetailed backgrounds, and focusing on the characters? Backgrounds take a stupid amount of time compared to other stuff Roblox spray paint is a surprisingly good media
>what is roblox spray paint?
look it up idiot
>It's medium not media
fuck off retard
Pic related, drew in Roblox. Not a perfect piece, Im not an artist. Give it a try its fun I challenge you to draw a tree!
Give advices on how to draw good trees as well... This is one of my recent digital sketches. What should I improve on?
Aside from daily box drawing exercises what should I be doing? It really evades my mind why you dont see that in fiction. With all those fantasy races like the asari or the garudos, valkyries or the amazons they always fight either men or nobody and are hippies. But why dont thy fight amongst each other, kill each other, have empires, politics, arguing, war, ideologies? (or maybe there are some and im just dumb) People who pick up art purely to become popular or as a monetary reason should just become youtubers or something instead, if you don't like the process to start with then just don't bother I want to draw magic effects (Ice, Fire, Electrical, Water) etc for my indie game. It's pixel art but I guess it would be the same process as any other stylized vfx you would find in manga/anime etc. Any courses, books, anything? Do I just copy references and hope it gets internalized? Is this extremely hard to learn (even if it's just a serviceable level)? Also why are there no threads here about vfx? Unironically, what books would have helped Shitler make it as an artist? >rough sketches on paper (looks ok)
>scans into computer (respect and honor lost)
>inks digitality with automatic tools (dishonorable)
>photoshops his work with effects (this is not a joke his art is literally photoshoped)
All this time I thought he drew his art by hand. He has a TEAM to help him. Uses auto brushes, Traces. Sketch up. LITERALY PHOTOSHOPS HIS ART. GET OUT OF MY FACE. ZERO RESPECT. MANGA CON ARTISTS ARE OVER. How can you even begin to justify this as art? can we get a thread about krita going? tips, general impressions, sharing brushes and what not. apparently craig mullins, dave rapoza and other big name artists use it so im curious to try it out. i get very lost on the amount of educational content on the internet and the w/ic/i, so i guess i'll just stick to the tried and proven methods out there on learning how to draw well, more specifically characters for now, faces and whatnot, i just need a north to follow. I'm a digital artist but I find 90% of digital art quite soulless. Can you recommend me some underrated, under the radar fantasy artists? Can be both traditional and digital. remember the characters you daydream about are counting on you to get better so you can draw them as good as you can, which they deserve.
don't disappoint them thoughts on this thing i made What's your favorite sculpting medium? How many frames should pixel art sprites use for walk cycle animations? I have naked figure how do you draw clothing How detailed do you reckon should concept art be? Especially for character specific conceptual art. Who's got it worst artist or writers Here is a painting I did on bark from a tree thats been processed. Is line-confidence / stroke-confidence a fundamental? How do you practice it? Why is it so hard to draw these kinds of angles? Is Is it the foreshortening? The clothing never looks right, even when following reference. Granted, I've only been drawing for 2 years so I'm still a low /beg/, but I feel like I should be able to understand this but I don't. I just want to draw pantyshots of my favorite characters Why are there so many Asians in Western animation, concept art and illustration industries? You go to any big name school for art or industrial design and you'll find plenty of Asians.
Is there a cultural reason that isn't "asian jeans"? Why do big tits artists keep drawing the head smaller? Like you look at their old artwork and the head is normal sized, but their new art has girls with tiny little heads. This shit is fucking ridiculous, like a curse. Thread to study the female body.
You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). https://online-courses.club/anatomy-of-clothing-2019-by-ron-lemen/ It just seems to lack a spark, but then so does all of Tumber and deviantArt. What good ai art or uses have you seen? Or is it all just dreck? Friendly reminder you don't need skill to be successful, just soulmaxx and you will have popular artists make actual good art of your shit. Is there an art sharing site out there that's not complete fucking shit? No AI sloppa flooding the search? No strict with censorship? What am I supposed to do if I don't take criticism very well? I don't know what it is. Half of the time someone criticizes my work I can't take it without going mental. I get bitter, disheartened and overwhelmed. I feel pathetic, and I want to get better, if possible. For example, I'm drawing a short horror comic, about halfway through now, and one of my friends thinks that I should go back once I'm finished and redo a good bit of it, redraw and add some more pages, as he thinks my pacing is too fast.
Says that alot of famous directors and artists would redo their pieces over months and months, but my thoughts were that I should take what I've learnt from this project (which I'm already a bit bored by), and use them in my next short comic.
So the point is, should we just leave things as they are, or try for perfection?
