No you don't, and never have you. You might get a small vocal minority complaining, but most people don't mind a change in art style, or even appreciate seeing the artist grow.

Manga absolutely does have direct feedback posted directly to the author/editorial (granted, it's not publicly visible) and they absolutely change things based on what the fans latch on to. And a big part of feedback they receive IS about the drawings and yes sometimes that involves readers commenting on changes in the art style, positive or negative.
I'm speaking as a manga author who has received such comments from readers. Even just between the two works I've released, readers commented on the evolution of the style.

Yes, it's almost like you're wrong for thinking that the majority of readers are bothered by evolving style. You can literally see how wrong you are. Did the possibility that you are mistaken not occur to you?
