It's a dopamine casino for regular browsing. The algorithm wants users to stay on it as long as possible, to see as many ads as possible. It does this by giving you morsels of what gives you dopamine followed by shit that tanks you mood. This oscillates back and forth, causing doomscrolling. If you're doomscrolling, you are using the site as intended and designed. I dislike this and don't want to use a website that works in such a way.

The more annoying you make it to archive your work the less truly dedicated fans you will have. The kinds of autists who want to preserve your art in case of catastrophe and will be like "I HAVE YOUR STUFF BACKED UP BRO DONT WORRY I'LL SEND IT TO YOU WHEN YOU'RE SAFE" if your house burns down. Or who know every single thing you drew and will share the exact thing they know their friends will like, which is free high quality advertising.

Crowdfunding methods (dA's subscriptions/premium shit, patreon, substar, etc) are just extractive on the audience you already have. Leaking your own art allows you to use them to also gain reach to some degree.

Additionally people like to "try before they buy". There's an old OLD phrase a boomer once told me back in like elementary school:
Never buy a pig in a poke.
