My point was that the end result is what matters to the audience. In the case of art, and it's communication and connection, it doesn't matter how hard the artist worked on a piece to the average person, all that matters is how they felt looking at it, or what they interpreted from it, or if it looked nice - the end result... like I said though, this is big brush strokes I'm discussing, and am ignoring the naunces, such as fans of that particular artist, or the views of particular members of the audience etc.

That's the thing, you're painting your views and experiences as the common one, when I believe the average person WOULD be happy with they could eat a gourmet meal via a vending machine or as a microwave dinner.

This is a little different because it's a false promise - the audience is promised a live performance, we all know what that actually means when it comes to music, and instead they got a choreographed dance routine to the pre-recorded songs.
I think a better comparison is for electronic music, where the DJ essentially hits play on his laptop and changes things up a little as it goes, but the audience knows and expects that, so is not upset at there not being a full orchestra playing the songs instead.

I agree with you, but I just not to the point where the average person has to care HOW something is made, or about the artist. They look at a picture, or film, or whatever, and derive an experience from the end result.
