I think having other comics linking to you (and you reciprocating and linking back) could do well.
Though you'd have to get in contact with other comic author for both these plans.

Sure, but the issue is that so many previous people have already optimised their SEO as much as possible, and because they've done it prior to you, have gotten enough traffic that there's no way for you to get ahead on the search algorithms. This said, one of the biggest things that search algorithms (apparently) look for? Links to and from your page! So better beg other creators to link to you.

I suppose if we're going 'real world' with our advertising, you could try throwing up posters to get people to visit your page - you could even try and tickle people's love for their local area by bringing up it's a locally made comic.
Another little trick could be to print out zine collections of your comic, and handing them out to the local library and cafes to advertise your comic.

Anyway, I'm sure all these bullshit ideas won't work because the internet is a corporate controlled load of shit these days.
