The old ones are valuable collector's pieces that aren't very good for shooting much due to the delicate lockwork. The new ones are fine to shoot, but they lack the collector appeal and you can get better revolvers for less money. Really the only point to the Python is its iconic look due to the vent-rib barrel. Is that worth the $$$ to you?
