>Clark, citing a presentation by Ukrainian soldiers, said the Russians use GPS spoofers to throw off the munitions.
>GPS spoofers work by sending false location data to GPS navigation devices. Because GPS signals are weak, a stronger, false signal can be sent to override the correct inputs. Russia has used GPS spoofing in Ukraine since at least 2018. But advancements in technology mean spoofers can be created cheaply with just a software-defined radio and open-source software.
>The weapons the spoofers are working against, meanwhile, are anything but cheap. A GMLRS missile costs around $160,000, while an Excalibur round can cost as much as $100,000. The GLDSB costs around $40,000.
I didn't know that Excalibur's were so expensive, at that price might as well but more GMLRS rounds for the HIMARS which have longer range:

According to Peter Zeihan, the most respected thinker on /k/, the RN has a less capable carrier force and projection ability than the JMSDF
Zeihan on the JMSDF:
>Japan doesn’t only build but also designs its own naval vessels and has since the 1880s. Japan’s navy is easily the second-most powerful expeditionary force in the world…the entire Japanese fleet is blue-water capable.
>It is Japan, not China, that boasts the world’s second most capable navy. It is that navy that is second only to the United States in the number of aircraft carriers floated (Japan claims those carriers are only for helicopters but that is, if you’ll forgive the repeat, just some more PR bullshit).
>Japan…has four aircraft carrier battle groups that can make it that far. The point is less that the Japanese would use carriers for convoy duty, and more that the Japanese could scrub Chinese naval power out of existence from Hormuz to Malacca with a minimum of fuss.
Zeihan on the RN:
>At each step the Queen Elizabeth carrier program had to re-justify itself and fight for funding anew. And now, with Brexit looming, they’re having to slim the rest of the naval force to keep their supercarrier program on track.
>Which means the Brits no longer have sufficient ships to protect their new supers once they are fully operational.
>The British Navy has atrophied so much for so long that it can no longer assemble two credible battlegroups and still defend Great Britain itself.
>For the Queen Elizabeths’ deployments, this is nothing short of a Charlie Foxtrot. The new British supercarriers dare not venture further away from shore than the reach of British air power, whether that air power be launched from the United Kingdom itself or from the territory of a trusted ally. Support ships can certainly be built up more quickly (and cheaply) than the supercarriers themselves, but ships don’t grow on trees. This will be the state of the British Navy for at least a decade. You shouldn't be chasing for spec values but they do exist and if you wanted to know what "better spec" values are there's a way to know which unit is desirable over another.
Most retailers won't post this info as they build NVDs to order, first come first serve, and depending on their grading scale of high, mid, low tier it may differ from retailers. If a retailer offer a “ready to ship” fully built units they will list the spec values. Hand select is an option from retailers that will try to match to your spec requirements.

SNR: signal to noise ratio, the amount of signal the tube can make compared to the noise
EBI: equivalent background information, how much false image appears in the screen through which the actual image has to show, sort of a noise floor of sorts
Halo: How big the circle of bloom is around lights
Photocathode Sensitivity: How sensitive the photocathode is
LP Resolution: Line pair res of the center of the image as measure against a standardized chart
If one spec is shit it negates the rest, if you have a halo of 2.0 it kinda fucks on an EBI of 0.20 if you want to do any kind of shooting and it's all a balance game
The numbers to meet or beat are
EBI under 1, preferably under 0.6 being great, 0.1 is gucci
Halo under 1, anything under 0.7 is awesome
SNR, over 25 anything over 30 is gucci
Photocathode, 1900+ is pretty great, 2500+ is stellar

https://apnews.com/article/brazil-amazon-migrants-adrift-africa-mauritania-2c98d960650b4e57f145884b3a5abceb
About two weeks ago, a fishing vessel off the coast of Brazil, near the Amazon river delta, finds a seemingly derelict boat drifting at the sea. The boat is full of dead bodies. Rotting bodies. Badly decomposing, like they have been on the seas for a months.
Coast guard and police are called, forensic investigations started.
The boat looks much like the boats used by coastal fishermen in Mali or Mauritania, at the North-western coast of Africa (pic kinda related, that's what you get if you google "mauritanian fishing boat").
It's 12 meters (39ft) long, has no engine or rudder. And not like "there has been an accident and they lost the rudder" but like "This boat has never had a rudder". It's a fucking row-boat.
On board there are 9 rotting bodies ...and 27 cellphones. Suggesting that originally there were a lot more people on board.
Best guess is that it used to be a migrant boat. They left the African coast trying to get to Canary Islands in the Atlantic. And they missed the Canaries. Current pushes them to south, out to the Atlantic.
Around 30 people trying to get to Canaries. That's Spanish soil. They can apply for asylum.
So they get on this dinky little rowboat, packed tight as sardines, and set off. Their navigational equipment? The Captain's old (non-waterproof) cellphone's GPS.
At best they have some kind of sail, at worst just oars. It doesn't take much of a storm to overshoot the Canaries.
They end in the mid-atlantic Doldrums... the calm belt. They have no engine. Food runs out. Water runs out. Scorching sun starts to take it's toll. People start dying.
At first they dump the bodies into the sea. Later, when they get too hungry, they ...don't dump the bodies.
Months later, a boat with only 9 rotting bodies washes on the coast of Brazil. what would be the most common AR barrel length if the NFA didn't exist?

When I can carry something a little more chunky and powerful. .357 Sig is the definitive defensive round and it has 14.
>H&K USP 45
45 ACP+P is almost as good as .357 Sig and it has one less round, and it’s bigger than the Glock, but I can shoot it better than any other handgun. Perfect for winter carry or open carry hiking/camping. So how dangerous are grenades, really? The Army told me they will kill anything out to 15 meters from where it explodes. But then I hear stories how Haji managed to toss a grenade through a Humvee window but everybody inside survived (albeit in very bad shape). Logic tells me there is only so much explosive force you can pack into a device that fits in your pocket, and the shrapnel let loose probably won't be going as fast as a bullet from a gun. Many professional soldiers dislike the concept of “elite” units. By siphoning off experienced leaders and the best of the regular forces they reduce the combat readiness and effectiveness of line units. They tend to get first dibs on equipment which could be upgrading the regular troops. They make a somewhat artificial and potentially insulting distinction
between good soldiers in line units and “elite” soldiers which can

The Sharpest General On /k/ What kind of weapons would you use to defeat a vampire?
Keep in mind that while vampires are typically vulnerable to silver, garlic, and sunlight, they are also much faster and stronger than a typical human and are vastly more cunning and intelligent. They are also likely to prepare several layers of defenses in their hideouts. What's something that war movies consistently get wrong? Colonel Roman Gosilovich, known as the "Literally Me of Mosul" has been killed in action in Ukraine.
According to reports available to the public, he was driving in Crimea when his car was struck with an Ukrainian missile. Doesn't look to bad. If anything the pace looks quite leisurely with whole days devoted to basically book studies. Even Sundays seem to be off.
Should I? Is there some practical reason why tanks and other large AFVs are generally around 12 feet wide?
I tried to find information on roads, railways and bridges, but nothing I could find eliminated the possibility of an AFV chassis of 4+ metres width.
I thought maybe it was for rail transportability, yet loading gauges generally seem too narrow to carry many modern AFVs, so they would need to go by road anyway.
Sweden, for some reason, seems to be the exception, yet the widest loading gauge is still only 3.60 m, too small for many modern tanks.
Even heavy and superheavy tanks tend to be 'long' rather than 'wide', suggesting some kind of width limit.
If I was to describe a fictional vehicle as 13 or 14 ft wide, would that just be incredibly stupid for some practical reason?
Tanks:
>Leclerc: 3.60 m
>Abrams: 3.66 m
>Merkava: 3.72 m
>Leopard 2 2A6: 3.75 m
>T-72: 3.59 m
>T-90: 3.78 m (why so wide? sources vary)
>T-14 Armata: 3.50 m
Historical heavy and super-heavy tanks:
>IS-3: 3.15 m (9.85 m long)
>Maus: 3.71 m (188 tonnes)
>T-29 heavy tank: 3.80 m ("width over sandshields", whatever that means)
IFVs and misc:
>Bradley IFV: 3.60 m
>Puma IFV: 3.70 m (sources vary)
>ASCOD: 3.64 m
>BMP-3: 3.2 m
>PzH2000: 3.60 m. What is the earliest time period an armored self-propelled vehicle could be made do you think? Not in terms of knowledge, in terms of available resources/infrastructure and the presence of, say, a genius who knows precisely how to make it inventing the thing using that, and armies adopting it. What would it look like and how would it be integrated into its contemporary battlefield?
For example, I think IF the Da Vinci tank could have a better propulsion source and uparmored with metal it could probably do well as a sort of mobile pillbox, especially given the artillery science of the time would be less suited to taking out something like it. It might need flat, dry terrain and possibly a revamp to mobility (could they have invented treads?), but assuming all that could be done I think it would be reasonable effective in its niche, but not a wonderweapon. It should've been adopted. One day I’ll visit Miami and larp as Sonny Crockett.

The US Air Force has awarded Sierra Nevada Corp a 13 billion USD contract to deliver its Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) aircraft fleet – a contract that is by far the largest program for the privately held company.
SNC beat out traditional prime contractor Boeing for the program, which will replace the current fleet of E-4B Nightwatch 'doomsday' planes. The award is notable as SNC, whose traditional programs have been smaller aircraft modifications, will likely modify Boeing’s own 747-8i aircraft for the fleet.
The cost-plus-incentive fee contract, with a fixed-price-incentive-firm target, includes an initial award of 59M USD. It covers the development and production of the SAOC Weapon System, including delivery of engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) aircraft, associated ground systems, production aircraft and interim customer support. Work is expected to be completed by July 2036.
In a statement, the Air Force said development of SAOC is critical to ensure the nuclear command, control and communications capability of the US. The commercial-derivative aircraft will be hardened and modified to meet military requirements. It will also integrate secure communications and planning capabilities with modern information technology.

Thread Theme: https://youtu.be/MgBqQ-uUHZk?si=giH3GHFluv72vC23 Today we're going on a field trip to see some of the shining examples of our militia's cutting-edge armory. From clueless boomers to ghetto drive-by fodder, it's time to see what the low speed high drag operators are doing.
Step 1: Go to Amazon, search some generic shit like "tactical light" or "sniper scope"
Step 2: look at the reviews of the cheapest, most mall ninja shit you see
Step 3: go to the picture gallery in the reviews
Step 4: post your findings and search query here
For example: "tactical lazer" An undisclosed international customer awarded a 2-year, $50M contract for Elbit Systems' new Red Sky VSHORAD system. Elbit will supply two Red Sky batteries, integrating both soft- and hard-kill effectors.
The package includes Elbit's Redrone, an electronic warfare system for detecting, identifying, locating, and neutralizing unmanned aerial systems. The Redrone system comprises: DAiR Radar, SIGINT sensors, RF jammer, and COAPS-L electro-optical payload.
Red Sky will also incorporate AA missile launchers. British 10/22 Edition
Previous: >>61371695 the 3 numbers in the top right in the video are
>RFMD, AKA radio frequency mode 2. which means pitch, yaw, roll, throttle commands are sent 50 times a second (slow by FPV standards which go up to 1000 but allows greater range)
>LQ , Link Quality which starts at 100. its the % of uncorrupted commands reaching the drone
>RSSI , Radio Signal Strength Indicator. power of said commands. -42 dBm means 0.0000000631 watt which is very powerful in radio terms
the flight:
>you can see him flying with an excellent link until he starts to point at the trench 0:24 where the LQ drops
>the RSSI is still strong it can work up to -115dBm no problem so it's not an obstruction + he still has video
>this means something is generating noise at the command frequency
>he gets RXLOSS, command packets not being received. the drone slowly drifts down as it's programmed to slowly crash land in such a case
>as he drops the LQ comes back to 80+ at 0:40. presumably hes outside the jamming signal
>he has enough control to go bomb them.
my guess is either the jammer was far away over a hill or something so the moment he has trees,a hill between him and the jammer he can regain control. this also means if EW troops can triangulate the enemy jammers the FPV pilots can plan routes that are low to the ground to avoid the jamming signals.
it could also be that the people in the trench used a handheld jammer and assumed the drone crashed so they stopped prematurely.
also they are flying with some insanely good RF links, i connected to my quad on the bench next to me and had -35 dBM, when im flying its usually -60 to -100 dBm. they are using very high power gear with good directional antennas. the way to overcome this cant be one big jammer covering a large area but small drone detectors/minijammers for every soldier/squad/vehicle *solves weapons*
Why isn’t the MIC working on prototypes? >chicken winging is bad cuz it makes you a bigger target! Thats why i follow all the tacticool trends!!!
>*stands square to the target*
>*has a foregrip they literally never use*
>*has tons of lights and lasers they never use*
>*has a red dot with no backup irons* How long until we just 3D print everything directly on the battlefield? You wake up in Black Mesa as a HECU.
The last gun you shot with it's the gun issued to you.
How fucked are you? Canada Replaces Browning Hi-Power with Sig P320. Pour one out.
>After many decades of service, the Canadian Armed Forces are retiring the Browning Hi-Power pistol, a staple since 1944, in favor of the modern Sig Sauer P320. The Canadian Armed Forces officially announced this change on March 20, 2024, via their social media, indicating they had received the delivery of their last modular C22 and C24 pistols. This delivery brings the total to 16,500 new C22 pistols for the Canadian Army, the Royal Canadian Navy, and the Royal Canadian Air Force, and 3,200 new C24 pistols for the Military Police Group. ITT we post pictures of tanks and armoured vehicles from ww2 because i have a difficult time finding them for whatever reason The X-32 looked like a smiilling fat pigeon.
On the other hand the Su-75 looks like a beautiful Raven.
All boeing had to do is improve the aesthetics to win. Hello
What's your favorite gun? Could you defeat your local police officer in a firefight?
Setting: a an empty parking lot. They are 15 feet away from you using a police SUV as cover. You have you're own vehicle as cover.
Ammo: what you regularly carry vs what the officer regularly carries.
Look up your local law enforcements weaponry if you don't know it. Why are old Soviet jets so cheap? Why does the US want them? Surely they've got some specimens over all these years.
inb4 gonna buy my own squadron Imagine earth is bein attacked by an aliens, and you managed to capture one of their weapons. What is your thought process as to how you would learn how to use it? Canadian firearms General

Last thread >>61516070 UK MILITARY CHIEFS WANT TO CATCH UP WITH CHINA, RUSSIA, AND THE US. Britain plans to equip the Armed Forces with a homegrown hypersonic cruise missile by the end of the decade, The Telegraph has learnt. Military chiefs want a weapon capable of reaching speeds exceeding Mach 5 as the Government races to catch up with China, Russia and the US. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has insisted that the new weapon be designed and built entirely in Britain and is understood to have set a deadline of 2030 for it to enter service.

Like if I sniped someone at night who was homeless would the cops immediately know they were sniped? I'm looking for .30 cal flow through cans that are on the shorter side. Is the Huxwrx can really the best option? They are going for $1300 on gun broker and I was hoping for a slightly cheaper option. >super exclusive limited time spyderco paramilitary 2 edition
The Sharpest General On /k/ >Of all the weapons in the vast Soviet arsenal, nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947, more commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It's the world's most popular assault rifle. A weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple 9 pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn't break, jam, or overheat. It will shoot whether it's covered in mud or filled with sand. It's so easy, even a child can use it; and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people's greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists. One thing is for sure, no one was lining up to buy their cars. Challenger 3 completes test firing
The UK Ministry of Defense has announced that the British Army's future tank – the Challenger 3 – has completed its fire testing phase. I will be including all media from this week = 23 files.

I'm looking for something like a Tom Clancy novel but space-related Just a fun little comparison based off an argument I saw on /pol/ over who shot down more stuff, Yemen or Yugoslavia Whats the best concealed carry weapon in a high capacity mag ban state? As laser weapons and microwave emitters become more commonplace tools to take out missiles, rockets, drones, aircraft, and more, what are some possible measures that can be taken to counteract their effectiveness? If you're going up against an enemy who has more manpower than you have ammunition to kill them, realistically what strategy can be utilized to prolong your life? Is scavenging enemy weapons the only method left to you? Could there be a point to making this but without space for 6 passengers?
I guess that might just be a light tank but they’re clearly able to hold their own against real tanks under the right circumstances. My dad's birthday is coming up and he is currently trying to get a firearm license, due to us living in Belgium, it's fairly difficult and in the meantime, I'd like to get him a good book on firearms for his birthday, any suggestions? I live in a VERY anti-gun shithole in Europe but, recently, reading the legislation I realized that black powder guns are considered obsolete and pretty much unregulated. The problem is that they cost an arm and leg and piece of my liver.
Anybody who ever had any luck building cap and ball muskets in their garage? I'm looking for some blueprints if possible. >Light Armor:
Leather Armor: Made from hardened leather, offering basic protection against cuts and thrusts.
Padded Armor: Consisted of layers of cloth or felt, providing some protection against blunt force trauma and cuts.
Lamellar Armor: Constructed from small rectangular plates laced together, offering flexibility and moderate protection.
>Medium Armor:
Scale Armor: Comprised of metal scales attached to a backing material, providing good protection and flexibility.
Brigandine: Fabric armor lined with metal plates, offering moderate to good protection while maintaining flexibility.
Coat of Plates: Overlapping metal plates sewn between layers of fabric or leather.
>Heavy Armor:
Plate Armor: Full-body armor made of articulated metal plates, offering exceptional protection against all types of attacks. I didn't post about this the other week because I wasn't sure if it was a fan concept or a real product. Apparently it's real. Israeli thing to replace cope cages. IAI introduces Huntereye: target acquisition and cueing system https://youtu.be/m6hpPIRwlIQ Just wondering, in case of major escalation, the west has the power to make all Internet connected iPhones and Androids, Intel computers (and possibly AMD), SCADA systems in Russia stop working overnight.
Is such strategic escalation more sound before or after nukes start flying? Or at the same time?
Obviously no thirdy will trust western tech again, so it's a use once kind of trick.
