Leaks from the Trump camp up until now paint a very dire picture for Ukraine which is why people in the media are freaking out. HOWEVER it has to be stressed that things Trump says and the things his people say they’re going to do OFTEN have no bearing on reality once it came time to do actually do it. In his first term he DID genuinely try to do the things he promised only to be shut down by the bureaucracy or the courts. Technically the President can force Ukraine to accept a bad peace deal which is so much in Russia favor that Putin is all but certain to accept it. But in REALITY the Ukraine-US partnership against Russia is a long-term State Department project going back 15 years or more, a central policy goal in Europe and it won’t let Trump ruin it. If you’re paying attention to media you’ll know liberal commentators are panicking over Project 2025 which is a plan to purge the federal bureaucracies and bring them under Trump’s control. This is where I beg everyone to fucking CALM DOWN; the Heritage Foundation is trying to figure out this game plan but the bureaucracies are SUPER entrenched, it’s not just a matter of firing people as we’re all going to witness soon. Trump is going to be only a little bit less of a lame duck this term.
