They where/are the MOST prepared nation to fend against Russia not the least not to mention they had some limited combat experience from their limited civil war against FSB backed separatists prior to Russia proper invading.
It also helps their generals are well versed in Soviet war doctrine meaning a lot of the shit Russians have been pulling up until the fiber optic drones were rather predictable.
