Short answer: No

Long answer: NO*

*The Khmer Rouge proved almost totally ineffective in any sort of pitched battle against the PAVN. But once they retreated back into the jungle, they and other anti-Vietnamese guerrillas (the Khmer Rouge were far from the only ones), did prove effective and the PAVN quickly found themselves in a nightmare of their own making, much as their American opponents had a decade earlier. In essence, Cambodia became Vietnam's own Vietnam War, complete with humiliating defeat and homeless veterans who are treated like garbage.

They weren't even glorified farmers with AKs, the NLF was actually incredibly well-organized and successfully fielded full-sized regiments and brigades at its peak. The Khmer Rouge was functionally closer to a medieval fiefdom with party functionaries as lords wielding life and death power over the the peasantry.

Vietnam has been supplied by Israel since at least the 1990s so it would presumably have imported fresh ammunition from them (it would be incredibly unsafe to use 1960s-era ammo anyway due to chemical degradation, lower production quality, and likely poor storage).
