That's going to depend on the magazine, but assuming we're talking a basic pistol mag I'd either make a wooden or 3D printed form and then work sheet metal over it. Which one would depend on the exact shape we're talking.

FGC 9's design seems to be heavily slanted to 3D printing simply for the sake of 3D printing.

Agreed. I'm not suggesting anyone use hand-filing alone, I'm suggesting they use the most efficient combination of techniques.

Yeah, so is getting good workable prints out of a 3D printer. These are little roadbumps, not insurmountable obstacles.

Yeah, I did that when I was 12, trying to cast a lead weight for a model trebuchet I built because I was bored. I made the counterweight mold out of plaster of paris, and it wasn't properly dry before I poured the lead in. I didn't injure myself and I learned something important. The next time I cast something I didn't make that mistake again.

No, I don't. I'm literally couldn't' care less about that. But I'll play along for the purposes of discussion. If the goal is to get the general public making guns why shouldn't those designs be improved by leveraging basic techniques which are easily accessible without much money or cost? I'm not arguing for Luty over FCG-9, I'm arguing for a hybrid design which takes the best of both.
