You already answered it with the first part of your sentence. If you can get 10 rounds in a 1.5 stack in the same size gun that holds 6-7 in a single stack, why not?

From the buyer side, it’s a direct upgrade. Let’s face it, buying guns is fun. We all want more guns, it’s a easy justification. You can even “give” your old single stack to a wife/girlfriend/femboy and use that as an excuse if you need an excuse to buy another pistol. From the manufacturer side, at some point everyone who was going to buy a small single stack 9mm or a pocket .380 already had. How do you get them to buy another one? Offer the same thing they already like but better. Do you need the extra rounds? Absolutely not. Is a Shield Plus better in every way than a Gen 1 shield? Absolutely. So why not get it? Money is the only limiting factor and most people can spare $500.
